I'm guessing you watched Jeff's video and yes, they DO close the parks....for guests safety. For those of you who have never experienced a hurricane...well, it's impossible to describe. Trust me...the thought of being in a park during a hurricane is something you wouldn't even consider...you're just praying the building you're in holds together during the storm and you get out alive.

Ed will be hearing noise this evening that's a 1000 times louder than a train whistle...it's difficult to carry on a conversation over the noise of the wind. The rainfall is painful...imagine a rain shower "raining" sideways being blown by 100+ mph winds...and you can't walk against it...you have to crawl. Those winds BLOW train cars off the tracks. The parks haven't closed often but it's been done in the past as well as late openings the day after as CM's clean the debris and make the roads passable...they'll be covered with tree limbs and road signs. They've evacuated Ft. Wilderness and even the Polynesian bungalows along the lake. Ft. Wilderness because of possible falling trees and the bungalows because the waters of Bay Lake could flood them. I keep thinking about the poor castmembers who have to deal with this

. I read here last night that some guests are being totally irrational when told they'll have to change resorts for rooms because they didn't extend their stay early enough. DW is having to find places for displaced cruise passengers over the storm plus all the Ft. Wilderness campers. They've had a lot of cancellations but also a LOT of extended stays. Some guests from the east coast have wanted to leave early but can't locate a hotel room ALL along the east coast...they're all full of those who have evacuated. It's stressful every which way you turn....like you or Diane or Jeff being snowed in from a blizzard or ice storm or having to evacuate because of a forest fire.

There's no perfect place to live...
