Where In The World 21. We are now completely legal!!!

Do they ever close the parks? Seems like Friday might be a good time to do it.

I'm guessing you watched Jeff's video and yes, they DO close the parks....for guests safety. For those of you who have never experienced a hurricane...well, it's impossible to describe. Trust me...the thought of being in a park during a hurricane is something you wouldn't even consider...you're just praying the building you're in holds together during the storm and you get out alive. :scared1: Ed will be hearing noise this evening that's a 1000 times louder than a train whistle...it's difficult to carry on a conversation over the noise of the wind. The rainfall is painful...imagine a rain shower "raining" sideways being blown by 100+ mph winds...and you can't walk against it...you have to crawl. Those winds BLOW train cars off the tracks. The parks haven't closed often but it's been done in the past as well as late openings the day after as CM's clean the debris and make the roads passable...they'll be covered with tree limbs and road signs. They've evacuated Ft. Wilderness and even the Polynesian bungalows along the lake. Ft. Wilderness because of possible falling trees and the bungalows because the waters of Bay Lake could flood them. I keep thinking about the poor castmembers who have to deal with this :scared:. I read here last night that some guests are being totally irrational when told they'll have to change resorts for rooms because they didn't extend their stay early enough. DW is having to find places for displaced cruise passengers over the storm plus all the Ft. Wilderness campers. They've had a lot of cancellations but also a LOT of extended stays. Some guests from the east coast have wanted to leave early but can't locate a hotel room ALL along the east coast...they're all full of those who have evacuated. It's stressful every which way you turn....like you or Diane or Jeff being snowed in from a blizzard or ice storm or having to evacuate because of a forest fire. ::yes:: There's no perfect place to live...:tink:

Done all the prep on mine and mom and dad's house. This evening we will see what Mathew brings. Western eye wall will roll overhead sometime during the night. Wont be able to take good pics.

...and now you wait. ::yes:: Latest path I saw shows it "kissing the coast" (the words of the reporter) along West Palm Beach. Get some rest today, keep those pain pills handy and remember you're injured :goodvibes...don't try to do to much. We'll be thinking about you and waiting for your BREAKING NEWS bulletins! :woohoo: :tink:

Obviously a map. In a park? MK?

Attraction, shop or food service?

Yes Sir, obviously a map :goodvibes and it's in a park. It's not from an attraction, shop or food service. :tink:

I sent that link to my mom and she reminded me we were down there in October 1999 and WDW was affected by Hurricane Floyd I don't remember that but I guess I have been there in bad weather lol

You were just having SO much fun, right? :rotfl: DD's family was leaving on this date a few years ago...showed up in her memories on Facebook yesterday. :goodvibes :tink:

Did I miss something? Why are you on pain meds? What's the matter with your ribs?

2 weeks ago I was out riding my road bicycle. was at mile 22 and had to slow down for a car exiting a local Walmart. Went to slow and lost balance. Feet were in clips still. fell hard on entire left side. The next day went and got x-rays. Have a Bruised chest wall and 2 fractured ribs. All triathlon training has stopped for a few weeks

What Goopy has said. There are quite a few locals that have to evacuate that will go to Disney. I even thought about it. They are pretty good with keeping their resorts with power. These storms will create some strange sounds, Been thru quite a few. What to feel what a cat 1 storm feels like. Next time you are traveling on a highway at 75 to 80 in a heavy downpour, stick your arm out of the window and hold it there for about 6 to 9 hours.

News Update - The EYE is about 120 to 130 miles to my SE and still traveling to the NW. So with the forward movement moving a little quite means it will get here a little sooner.

Another update. Local radar has been noticing a little more northerly movement than NW. Also they are projecting that Mathew could be a 5 in the near future. Right now it is a strong category 4.

Damn...trending toward a 5 is not what you want to hear! I have noticed that slight northward trend too on maps, which is good for you but certainly doesn't take you "out of the cone". Andrew was a 5, right? That would pretty much wipe that beautiful beach area out. :sad2: Haven't been down as far as West Palm Beach but we SO love the Cocoa Beach area :lovestruc; DH just asked if we could drive over there in December and then said "never mind...I don't think I want to see it devastated." Great analogy with the driving and sticking your hand out the window ::yes::. Sure hope the damage is minimal to our beloved DW; CM's have a long few days ahead of them...another reason for us to always say "Thank You" to each and every one of them. :tink:

The little jog will help a little bit with the eyewall coming that close to us.

DH just read on Yahoo this is only the 4th time Disney World has closed entirely because of a hurricane. :tink:
