No Sir, it's not a gate. :tink:

is it part of a building?

We got a direct hit (three times!!!) in 2004 so I feel for those up there. My sisters live in Bradenton on the West Coast and they had quite a bit of flooding over there. They are State Farm agents so they are very busy today.

The eye of Jeanne and Francis crossed right over me 2004. When they say inside the eye it is quite, it is very quiet. But you know me, I was outside on my lounge chair while the eye wall was blowing thru.

I'll go W-A-Y back in remembering Hurricane Carla in the '60's. We all (as in aunts, uncles, cousins) stayed at our grandparents home. The barn door blew off and Grandpa was having a fit 'cause his hay was getting wet...the eye crossed over us and he made Daddy and Uncle Lee go out to repair the door during the eye. They had trouble finding lumber big enough to cover the opening...they found the door WAY down in the pasture the next day...and got caught outside when the eye passed. No lounge chairs for them :rotfl:...they had to tie themselves together and crawl on the ground to get back to the house! More than once, the wind literally "rolled them backwards" but they finally made. :faint: You are SO right...it's creepy quiet in those eyes! :tink:

I live in Polk County, so we got Charlie, Jeanne and Francis! That was a year I will never forget. It was a shocker for us land locked folks. Learned real fast after Charlie, living without power in August in central Fl is not fun, so we were more prepared for the next two and made sure to have a generator on hand.

Same here. Had no power for 2 weeks for both storms. On generator for the second one. Lesson learned.
