Where In The World 21. We are now completely legal!!!

Wow! Glad no one was hurt! But you have a friend who had a 7,880 sq. ft. house worth 1.6 million!? I don't think there is a building within 3 counties of me that is that big!

Thermometer?

Yep...have friends in all walks of life; some rent houses, some live if beautiful homes like this. Heck...DD's house is 4500 sq. ft. That size home is fairly common in Texas; not an "average" but we have quite a few in our county alone. Bottom line...size and price don't matter...they lost it all yesterday. :sad1:

No Ma'am, this is not a thermometer. :tink:

Sad news on Facebook tonight posted by one of my high school classmates. Her daughter's 7,883 square foot home, valued at 1.6 million dollars was totally destroyed this afternoon by fire. They think embers from an outdoor fire pit ignited it in the strong south winds. :sad2:

Newest ice cream flavor by the "Little Creamery in Brenham", Blue Bell. It is G-O-O-D :cloud9:...

Oh that sounds good. I don't think I've ever seen that brand of ice cream in our area.

DANG Jeff...3 million dollar car collection! How sad...some guy lost a collection worth about that much around Bastrop during the wildfires in 2012. That is SO sad...those restored cars are beautiful. This couple has 3 kids who were all in school, thank God. Their "dream house", "forever home"...just breaks my heart. Had the south winds not been SO strong yesterday, they probably could have saved the bedroom side but firemen just couldn't get control. They were using 3 of those huge ladder trucks to spray water and it just wasn't happening. Two alarm fire and there were a LOT of firemen and trucks there but they couldn't fight the wind. :sad2:

Yep...the Princess is TRYING :goodvibes. I give her a "A" for effort but she struggles as an athlete. SIL coaches and he's always directing her ...

...:rotfl:. She's working on it....:rolleyes1

Blue Bell sells mostly in the southern states but also available in Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. Almost 100 years in business and, other than the ice cream served at Disney World :goodvibes, the only ice cream we eat. They have another new flavor...Pink Camo 'n Cream. The carton is "hunting camouflage" with swirls of strawberry, milk chocolate and cream cheese ice cream that is REALLY good too! Have to really limit myself with this stuff ...blood sugar levels could EASILY get out of hand otherwise! :cloud9: :tink:

Big square footage numbers are common here too; so different from our years back east. Even some moderately priced homes ($300k; I know it's all according to your own perspective ) here can be relatively huge. It took us a couple of house-hunting trips and looking at 40 or so homes to realize that homes in the Springs are very different in style than elsewhere. And more importantly, those square foot numbers often include basements, finished or not. So a one-level home with 2-3 bedrooms can still have 3000 sq ft or more.

Our current home is listed as being 5,250 sq ft (but only 3,000 is finished) and we paid far, far less than $500K. This same home back east even in a rural area would easily sell for $1 million (one of the big reasons we moved out of the DC metro area).

I laugh at the home prices down south I know your eccomony is a lot different then ours
but here in Vancouver home prices are one of the highest in the country

our 1555sq ft townhouse is worth around 600K and for a million dollors you can but a tear down stand along house if you are lucky lol

I check out the market weekly to see whats around in out price range and its depressing

Wow! I am really out of touch with reality! The median home value in my county is $175,500. My house is about 2,200 sq. ft. and has 4 bedrooms and two full baths. It's way more than I need for just me. And I have 33 acres with the house and I'm still under the local average.

:thumbsup2 You are SO right Kathy! You explained it perfectly! Granted, an almost 8,000 sq. ft house is large but with a family that space is all used. Even at almost 5,000 sq. ft, DD only has one room that's "unused". It's "saved" so the Princess has a space to dance in! :goodvibes On our last trip to DW we were seated with a family from the New York/New Jersey area. The Mom and Dad were nearing retirement and seriously considering moving to Texas because of our home prices. They had already looked at some homes (in the same price range and size as the one that burned) and were amazed at the prices. One third of what that type of home would cost in their area!

Jeff...I think about you every time I see anything "real estate related"; your home prices are UNBELIEVABLE! When you told us you had to pay 600K for your townhouse I was floored! :faint: DD and SIL were building at the time...almost 5,000 sq. ft. for $350,000. Triple your square footage for half the price.

Denise...you're not out of touch; you just live in an area with cheaper land and home prices. 33 acres here in Texas would cost between 400K and 500K. :tink:

 OOPS..."dang it I should have had that"! The very next play... "You're not going to fool me AGAIN"!...Got that sucker :cheer2::

Started out as I expected, playing a 5A school in a practice game :headache: finding ourselves behind 2-12 :headache: and thinking it's going to be a long match! Time out and "come to Jesus" meeting :rolleyes1 with coach on the sidelines ... then on to win first game 25-23. Diane...a LOT of "COME ON RICKY BOBBY" :rotfl2:during those first 3-4 minutes!

Second game was a 25-11 win and 3rd game 25-19...."THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT"! :cheer2:
