Wow that's a long time to have to wait to get your tax refund to get straightened out. I would be in trouble, we use ours to pay our property taxes. We always have our refund direct deposited to our bank account. Hopefully you wont have to wait too long to get reimbursed for your damages.
That's one of the things that took so long; she'd asked for direct deposit and it never appeared. When she FINALLY got through to an IRS rep (EVERY phone call meant at least an hour on "hold") we figured out something was wrong. Someone, somehow (I guess I don't have a "criminal mind" 'cause, to this day, I don't know how it was done) "filed" on her social security number before she did. It had to have been done January 1st
because, at that time, she had a very simple return and her accountant filed it around January 15th. Like I said, it was a nightmare. As soon as she became a homeowner, I MADE her give me enough money out of her income tax refund to cover taxes and I KEPT IT in a special savings account for her.
It's not that I didn't trust her to not spend it during the year
BUT...well, I didn't trust her to not spend it during the year!
Newly married and new home owner, there were quite a few times she asked for "some" of the money but I was the "mean Mom" and refused to give it to her.
Now that she's matured, she does that on her own. The other DD has her taxes included with her house payment on a monthly basis. We'll most likely get reimbursed about $50-$75 a month, so it will take FOREVER to get our money...but, with the Court controlling the payments it will eventually happen AND, if he doesn't pay he "does not pass GO...it's directly to jail". To this day, my blood pressure goes up when I remember that day!

; at least it's not ICE. I wore my "heavy coat", gloves and took a blanket to the soccer match
We've had very pleasant weather this week but rain is due as it gets close to the weekend. Long range forecast gives us a "VERY slight" chance of snow in a couple weeks.
We're not "holding our breath" that it will happen!

It's a shame we can't just take our refunds and "go to DW"!
Ours always goes into savings to cover insurance deductibles and co-pays for all the extra "testing" that we have to do because of our age!
