This is in Germany. Now where and what....
I tell her no and come in, then text her at noon asking how she's feeling, and she's all "Oh I don't know if I'll be able to come in, I'll let you know." Now, I know that stomach issues come and go, but you can't one minute be too sick to come in and then suddenly be okay enough to allow me to come in late. Literally had to call and force her not to open (because I'm one of those people who once I'm up, I'm up)

I'm going crazy here at work. Yesterday morning, my coworker says she's sick and has thrown up. I ask why she hadn't gone home, and she claims it's because our trainer was here. She makes it until 2:00, talking with the trainer, catching up with another coworker who came in, but then suddenly she's sick again and has to leave early. Last night she texts me asking if I'll cover the opening shift for her because she's still not feeling well. This morning, confirms she is too sick to come in then. I inform her I have a migraine so if she could at least come in to close that would be great. She then insists that I should go back to bed and she can come in to open. Um....are you sick or aren't you?
Sorry, just needed to vent. People sometimes!

Oh the "world of working"..... Drives DD CRAZY...she spends hours getting a workable schedule for the part-time employees...some are in band, some in athletics, some in the arts program...get's it set and has one of them call with..."Oh...I forgot...we have solo and ensemble practice on such & such a day"! 
I can sympathize with your co-worker, though; had those same "tummy issues" the past 2 days with an awful headache but I "sucked it up" and kept going. It's called "honoring your responsibilities"!
