Where (in the US) would you like to live

I don't have any specific reason for it, but we've always thought about moving to the Carolinas at some point.

If I had to live in the US it would definitely be in Southern California - we love to vacation there. Tough to choose between Orange County and the San Diego area though - I'd have to do a lot more research before I could decide for sure.

It's unlikely to happen, but I'd want to return to Southern California. But in LA County. Santa Monica or Manhattan Beach are my preferred areas.

Realistically, though, if I moved anywhere it would probably be SW Florida. Naples, Sanibel, etc.

we can be neighbors in Naples...my folks were on Central Ave, 6 blocks from the beach..sigh.....I was incredibly fortunate to have spent as any Floridatastic years as I did there.

My in-laws spent many years going between Florida and Door Cty, Wisconsin. We always enjoyed visiting them for vacation!

When DH retires I'm not sure what we will do. Probably stay here as a base but go somewhere warmer in the winter. Hawaii is nice, San Diego is nice, with 2 kids living on the west coast we would probably head that way rather than Florida.

This is the question in our house now as we must figure out what we want to do when we grow up. I am willing to live just about anywhere as long as there is a Target, Chicfila, a good church, and reasonable flights to Florida. Alaska would be great but I would not be able to afford to go to Disney LOL. But it would be nice to have a big cozy cabin, on the other hand I would love Florida to enjoy fun and sun!

I've been in Southern Cal (San Diego) for 40 years so I doubt I would be happy in most other places. We've visited Portland OR and love that, but I think there's too much rain for DH. He would love the desert but I'm not sure I would survive. We love Palm Springs for vacation but I don't know if I could live there. From here I can get to the beach in half an hour, the snow in 2-3 hours, the desert in 1-2 hours, it's pretty perfect for us.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately -- what is important to me, how close to perfect a locale can ever really be . . .

I want clean air, clean water, limited cold weather, and no drought concerns . . .

I've never been to Hawai'i, but it does seem like a good candidate if I could afford it. Maybe New Mexico (but there's that drought thing). Maybe Oregon (but there's that winter thing)

I'm a Southerner at heart, but I'm not sure I'll ever live there again.

I agree somewhat, but I'm looking for 65-75 degrees, year round. Low humidity, green landscape, decent size population for cultural amenities, commercial activity and medical care but not a crush of traffic.

Alaska, Maine, Vermont, East TN, or Montana. Somewhere near mountains, preferably not super hot or humid in the summer, cold and snow is fine, and with several acres of land between me and the nearest neighbor.

I live in the U.K. can I still play? We have travelled a lot in your lovely country. Ideal for us is summer in New England just catching the beautiful fall then down to Florida to be snowbirds. Love Southern California also but west coast is far to fly back to U.K. To see family.

Take the "needing to find work" issue out. Where would you like to live in the US and why? Climate? Activities? Close to family?

Personally, I'd like to find somewhere that I don't have to deal with snow and ice but also be close to the kids (who knows where they'll be).

I would like to be somewhere with moderate weather. I like the rain, but I don't like heavy heavy downpours; I like the snow but dislike blizzards; I like the heat, but I hate high temps; and humidity (like here in FL) kills me.

Mountains would be nice. Oceans are meh, because I can't get in the water as often as I wish (darn skin).

The only thing that I'm sure of is that I don't want a city, especially a population packed one (or one that seems that way) like NYC or Boston.

I've lived in Colorado, northern California, northern and southern Nevada, Arizona and now Florida. Of those, it's tough to rank because each had their positives and negatives.

I have a love/hate relationship with CA, FL, AL, TX, and pretty much all the Rocky Mtn States. There's a lot to love from my POV for each (depending on locale), but plenty to hate as well.

My current locale in Missouri has a lot to love, and a lot to dislike, but nothing to "hate". So, with that in mind, I'd probably pick someplace similar. Maybe somewhere outside Nashville.

Totally; and money is no object here right? Let's definitely move to Santa Monica. I the pier! I though about Malibu for a minute too, but the vibe there is way too beachy for me. Santa Monica feels more like it's integrated into the city.

We would love to live in Monterey,CA. We love the weather and the ocean. But it is very expensive living there.

I'm currently searching for just the right place in the USA. I have a place in FL and one in NC. FL was dreadful to me due to heat, humidity and traffic from tourists. NC is pretty but no longer has the snow it did when I was a child. Mountains of Virginia are looking good. I like the rustic chalets with huge walls of glass that look out over the mountains. This just may be the spot.
