Ok...so my brother is going to propose to his girlfriend while we are down our our vacation in May. He is looking for some romantic ideas of how to do it!!! Any suggestion is great!!! I told him Disney could probably plan something super nice...but curious what any of you have heard/witnessed/or thought of that would be great! :thumbsup2

there is a boat ride a night i think its at Mk they take you out on the lake to watch the fireworks or have him do it on main street in front of the castle get a photo pass person to take there picture and just as there about to take the picture have him kneel and ask let the photo pass person know he wants to ask her to marry him and they will make them pose for the picture

Agreed, during a fireworks display at night time would be romantic.

This is a good idea! :thumbsup2

Not to be a killjoy, but keep in mind the crowds in front of the castle during and after Wishes.....might not be that romantic to get jostled and drop the ring!:scared1:

The Wishes cruise is a good idea... or on the beach at Poly or GF during Wishes......I don't think you have to stay there to visit the beaches. Or have dinner at Cali Grille in the Contemporary and propose while watching Wishes on the observation deck.....there are carriage rides at POFQ, which are romantic, but not as "magical" as the things involving Wishes and MK.

I think I also read on here about someone having dinner at CRT and when they served dessert, they brought a glass slipper with the ring inside?

Check on the weddings board, you will find a lot of great ideas there!:wizard:

I think the one thing that really needs to be considered is the personality of the bride and groom to be. Would they prefer something showy or something private?

If you make an early morning ADR for Crystal Palace you are allowed to enter the park before it opens. The photo pass people are already out taking pictures. They could pose for a picture and he could propose as they are about to take it. He would get great photos of the proposal with the castle with few to no people in it.

We saw a proposal in front of the castle while waiting for the parade. CM pulled them out to the middle of the street, gave him the microphone and we all clapped when she said yes!! My three DD's thought it was the coolest and hope that they get asked in front of the castle now. Luckily for me it won't be for a long time!!

That's a great idea - talk about magical. princess:

If they prefer something more private, you might all consider eating at Narcoossee's. A few minutes before Wishes begins you all go out on the porch, and he can get down on his knee and propose right as the first fireworks explode over the castle. :lovestruc

I think Narcoossee's is very romantic.

Hope you report back and let us know what happens.

When in May will you all be there? We'll be there in May too.

CRT has a "proposal package" that sounds good. I know I'd love to be proposed to in Cinderella Castle! Your brother can call CRT for info.

I agree that the Wishes fireworks is a great time. If you have dinnner at Ohana at Polynesian Resort, you can take a walk right out to the beach and watch the fireworks. How romantic. I believe there are torches lighting the path. Ohana is our favorite place, and with the water right there, they will never forget that moment. Good luck to everyone! :bride:

I also vote for the beach- a nice & fun dinner at GF or Poly, then a beach proposal! How romantic!!!

I also have thought about being proposed to on the boardwalk at night. It's not so disney-esque, but it's so beautiful.:lovestruc

My sister got engaged at Disney in October. Her fiance did it at the beginning of Wishes on Main Street. Tink is her fave, so he did it right when Tink started flying down. My mom and I were strategically placed to take pictures of it happening, but I'm sure a photopass photographer could do it too. What we did was kind of let people around us know what was going on so they could get out of the way so that we could get the pictures. It was great, so romantic and everyone around was so willing to help add to someone else's Disney magic.
We even ran into one of the ladies I was standing by later that night at Cosmic Ray's and I overheard her talking about it to someone else!

First congrats to your brother! How exciting!
My DH husband proposed to me in Italy by the gondalas in EPCOT right after the fireworks. I remember it was the first time I saw them and I was so excited! Their fireworks and show was awesome! I remember saying to my husband "these fireworks are way better than the ones back home at Kirby Park." Just as I finished my words he got down on one knee and proposed.
This specific area in Italy is now roped off at night, but for a cost, you can book this area.

For a romantic more quiet atmosphere, might I suggest leaving EPCOT through the back exit and going for a stroll around the boardwalk. There's a cute bridge past the ESPN club. From there you can see the lights from the boardwalk reflecting on the water. It's so pretty and romantic!!

I know that one of the restaraunts in the GF will work with the groom to be...like when dessert is delivered, the ring will be in with the dessert....Any place in MK would be great....I am not a romantic but, it would be just so magical to just be in MK...btw, my husband gave me my engagement ring in a parking lot.......I don't even remember him asking me to marry him:) He is just so special...we have been together for 34 years and hopefully this time next year, I hope to have us on our way to Disney to celebrate 35:) Good luck to your brother..he sounds like a keeper:)

Thanks for all the fantastic ideas!!! :goodvibes I have passed all of them on to my brother, and promise to update when he decides on what to do!

I have been researching this for a while since it is my plan to do to this as well this summer. If I remember the proposal package at CRT was well over $300. A little too much for my budget. However you can still get a glass slipper for $40 at one of the shops on main street and can get it engraved for another $10.

Also you can get in contact with the wedding dept to help plan something (407.939.3463) or guest services at MK. Best Wishes!

Do they have a favorite ride?

My DH proposed on the jungle cruise. He slipped a note to the driver that asked if he could ask for questions at some point.

I like that idea! I think the most important factor is something that is significant to the COUPLE, not necessarily something that is generally "romantic" by most people's standards.

I proposed at the top of a small waterfall near home; we said our first "I love yous" at the bottom of it previously and I made reservations at the same restaurant we ate at that night.

My brother tied the ring into his girlfriend's running shoes; they met at a cross country camp as I recall...

Another thought; my DW :bride: gave me a wedding present of a framed Disney stock certificate and it has a placard that reading "It's a small world after all and my small world is better with you in it."

Maybe iasw would be good, I'd be OK with someone borrowing her 'line'... ;)

It probably goes without saying, but definitely would NOT go for a thrill ride! The ring going flying would be, uh, bad!

I have always thought the "Scoreboard" proposals, and the "Interrupt the restaurant" proposals, etc. were huge attention getting devices. A big, "Hey look at me, I need attention" thing.

We have a phrase for it at my house, but it is not Dis-friendly. Think "Attention" and then Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman."
