Well, I'm a little blue today:sad1: We had to cancel our trip for this weekend. I had such wonderful plans. We were staying at the Riverside, going to the Pirate & Princess Party (after taking the girls to the DTD BBB), seeing the Flower Festival at EPCOT, and finally, the kids were going to go on a pirate cruise. Everything was coming together so easily and then Pete tore a leg muscle. He isn't going to be fully recovered for weeks and walking around the theme parks is totally out. *sigh*

I'll have to resign myself to planning the February trip. I keep debating whether or not to take the kids out of school in early Feb or just go on the President's week when they are already out. The downside in waiting is the cost goes up quite a bit and the crowds are heavier. I really don't mind if the kids miss a week of school but I don't get the same feeling from the teachers and staff. Last time I took them out I had to sign a truancy form and have a meeting with the counselor. She had to explain the "the rules" to me. Even though she said she knows that I'm not one of the parents for whom the form was made, I still felt like I was doing something wrong. Although it really wasn't that big of a deal, it was a sorta downer after a great trip. It's hard enough fighting the post-Disney blues. I guess I will wait and see how the prices turn out. If they offer a super deal in Jan/early Feb then I will probably go for it.

Sorry, I just had to vent there for a minute. I will try and get my next installment posted today. I think the smaller ones are working better for me:rolleyes1

I forgot to add that Becky, my youngest, absolutely hates missing school. I mean she starts crying at the thought of missing a day, even if she is sick. She finally explained to me that if she misses a day then she will have extra work to do in the morning. If she doesn't finish her morning work in time then she will have to finish it during recess. If she has to do work during recess then she can't have her snack:rolleyes1

Day 5 Crystal Palace Oct 11

We last left the girls when they were all pampered and princessed. :cutie: As we were making our way down to the Exposition Hall, Pete called me on his cell to tell me that he and Cal were just arriving. We were trying to coordinate a meeting spot when he emerged right in front of me.

One more photo of the girls in case you forgot how cute they looked;)

Calvin, evidently, does not like Tinkerbell:mad:

Poor little guy. Actually, he was trying his best to smile but the sun was bothering him.

Calvin was happy to learn that we were going to see Pooh. pooh:He really loves Pooh and I‘m not sure why. By that I mean, he really hasn‘t seen any of the movies and I think he‘s only seen the little super sleuth shows on TV a couple of times. I guess it was enough though.

We were greeted by these cute little topiaries:

We were seated by a window. Another great view! The picture, not so great, but trust me.

Eeyore came by right away. Mommy‘s fav.

Piglet-Becky‘s Fav

Pooh-Rachel and Calvin‘s fav

Tigger-Daddy‘s fav

The buffet was good. I especially enjoyed the salmon and ratatouille. We had lots of time with the characters and got autographs. We had so much fun that as we left we forgot Calvin‘s autograph book. When I got home I called the lost and found and they found it right away!

Next up, MNSSHP

Love the pics. I haven't been to Crystal Palace since before it was a character meal. One of these days I'll make it back there again.:)

Did it have a 50s sorta look then? My mom swears there was a fifties diner at the end of main street.

No, it still looked the same. Is your mom possibly thinking about the Plaza on the other end of Main Street? It's earlier than the 50's, but it does have an old time feel to it. That's another place I haven't been to in ages and love.

I'm so sorry you had to cancel your trip! He could always drive around in an ecv.

I love the pics from Crystal Palace. I love that place!

I just found your TR again....actually it was a Pre-TR the last time I was here. So sorry about canceling the trip....I think I would ball my eyes out if that happened to me.

I'm not sure what she is thinking about. I wrote "ask anita" on the all ears website so I'll let ya'll know if she gives me an answer. You know, I have *never* been to the plaza!! It really wasn't until I had kids of my own that we started eating at the "fancier" places. When we were kids my dad used to keep a cooler in the car and we would go out to the parking lot and have lunch in the car:laughing: As a teenager/young married person I was too poor-we were just happy to have the year passes.

Great pictures! I love the Crystal Palace!

Thanks! I made sure to take some pics this time. Last time I had pictures of Pooh and the Gang but not the restaurant.

I was sad all through Mother's Day thinking, "I could be on Space Mountain right now".

We had to do the ECV thing once when his back gave out at the world. He had been on a mission trip to Haiti once as a youth and his back was hurt badly there and he's not been the same since. The ECV isn't a bad thing but just don't want the added expense and we just decided to wait until he is totally healed. More fun for him. We are going on a short trip to Sea World in Oct so that might help tide us over until next Feb.

I bet you couldn't believe I was still writing a report:rotfl: I don't think I will be accused of updating too quickly. I really just don't have time to DIS as much I would like.

I was sad about cancelling the trip. I was, especially, looking forward to the P&P party. pirate:

Much of our (my) planning has revolved around this night. I’ve read so much cool stuff about the Halloween Party and I was excited to see the parade and the fireworks. I must confess, though, I was a little nervous about the “not so scary” aspect. Becky cowered at the fireworks in July and who knows what might get to Calvin.

Some pictures of the decorations. I thought they did a great job!

The basic plan was to have everything that we wanted to ride out of the way by the time the party officially starts at 7. We hit Buzz and then met up with Grandma.

The jailbreak

Then into Fantasyland for Teacups, Pooh, Philharmagic, and Peter Pan

Grandma's Favorite

People had just started lining up for pics in front of Cinderella's Coach. We decided to do that before Small World.Someone on the DISboards had a wonderful thread for the party and we were told to head there before the line becomes too crazy.

Here's a couple with the special Halloween Party borders

Wouldn't it have been much better if I could be waving from inside Cinderella's Coach? Yes, I think so, too.

Another of Grandma's favorite is It's a Small World. Rachel is one of those who goes crazy on Small World but she indured it for her Grandma.

Since we were so close to Haunted Mansion Pete and I hopped on while Grandma watched the kids. She was very handy:thumbsup2 I didn't get any pictures of the Mansion because I just wanted to take it in and pay attention to all the new stuff. They had some kind of spooky carriage and smoke eminating from the front of the Mansion. The upgrades were very cool. I loved the bride attic scene and the pictures that change when lightening strikes. When we exited there was a show or something going on in front of that spooky carriage I mentioned. There was a ghostly figure telling a story, I believe. It was hard to make out and we had to get a move on because we didn't want the kids to wait long. I thought it was about candy time.

There was a treatline nearby at the Riverboat where we saw this ghostly figure. Luckily, the kids took him in stride and we all thought he was :cool2:

Thanks for reading!! More party events soon, including Boo to You Parade and Hallowishes!
