Ok, now if all of us start looking at this door then I'm sure they'll close the area off, but, I was wondering where this door led to, maybe if a CM knew.

if you walk towards POTC from Splash Mountain, If you look at the entire building that POTC is in, if you look to the very very right, there is a walkway that leads back somewhere. If you walk back there you'll notice stairs that go down. I went down the stairs and there is a door that goes into something. Anyone know where the door goes? I imagine taht through the doors is a backstage part of POTC. Anyone know?

I'm not quite sure...I'm guessing it's one of two things, either backstage like you said or the door goes down farter to the tunnels below.

The longer oblong circle is the walkway over to the area, and the more regular circle is the area where the door is. There is also an elevator that goes down to the door instead of going to the steps and going down. I just happened upon this area while my wife was in the bathroom recently and I went exploring.

I am sure you meant "farther" :rotfl2:
I am sorry, I couldn't resist. I am in a silly mood. Maybe b/c I will be leaving for the World in less than 2 weeks. Hope you find out about your mystery door.

HAHAHA, I didn't even catch that spelling error!

Having an elevator doesn't make sense...now I definitely think that it leads to the tunnels. Maybe it's an entrance for disabled cast members so they can get down there.

Back in '83 my high school band performed in the Orange Bowl parade. On our way back we stopped by Disney and they had us perform in the afternoon parade. During the morning we got to walk around the park but after lunch we had to head backstage to change into the uniforms provided by Disney. The door they told us to use to get backstage was over by POTC. It was an unmarked door that I didn't even notice until we were shown where to go. I don't think it is the same door although they could have changed it since '83. It was amazing how big the backstage area is. They told us not to use our cameras and if someone saw us taking pictures they would take our cameras. The reason was that in the backstage area you could see characters walking around without their "heads" and Disney didn't want any pictures getting out of the characters half dressed. We had a great time performing in the parade.

Indeed... It's probably a door that leads "downstairs." They are everywhere..

I believe it's an emergency exit. One time we took the door out right before the moving walkway up to the gift shop, it took us up some steps and out a path on the side.

That's what I was going to say. My HS band performed at MK back in '95. We came out into the park in that area.

I just performed there and we left through a door clearly marked for cast members. Interesting stuff.

We've used the elevator. I goes down to the exit of POTC. The usual exit has a steep moving walkway ramp; not good for bringing wheelchairs or walkers up. So, after getting off the ride, the CM can call the elevator to get wheelchair users back up from the exit.

Yep. The elevator puts you out in a little corridor and when you go down in a wheelchair and make the turn, you end up by the gift shop.
