Where does the Brazil & Mexico groups stay and when ?

I've only ever found tour groups (of kids/teens) at values and moderates. Most recently, I stayed at CSR this past July (20 thru 26) and they were all over the resort and the parks. I had some very upsetting incidents with the tour groups this time. Kids and teens always act more ridiculous when in groups and it seems especially exacerbated at WDW. While the heat was ridiculous at this time of year, the tour groups were the absolute worst part about the trip. I opted for a moderate resort due to everyone in our group not being able to afford a deluxe - but never again. And while I was acosted at the resort, I was pushed, shoved, sworn at, and worse at the parks. They also shoved and tripped my daughter to the ground as they were stampeding their way toward the exit (not too mention that they cut in line).

If you stay at a Deluxe, you most likely will not encounter any tour groups although you might encounter conference go-ers (like at the Contemporary or Swan/Dolphin) but their behavior is not as bad nor are they in groups at the parks. You might encounter longer lines at the resort restaurants when they are on meal breaks though.

I have seen tour groups in the spring and fall months, but not nearly as much as the summer months (mid/late June through end of July).

I always cringe when this particular subject comes up. As a Brazilian I'm deeply ashamed of the behavior and poor attitude these tour groups display while in Disney. It affects all of the others Brazilians who decide to travel only with their family because we're always grouped together as 'The Brazilians', no matter how WE behave.

I wish Disney would cut down on the maximum number of a group, ANY group. If there was less of them there would be a diminished mob mentality, allowing CM to better impose the rules.

I just ask that you please try to remember that not all Brazilians are the same and the majority is just another guest like anybody else, we do follow the rules and do not act like we own the place.

So we are tentatively planning on going January 30 for 11 days. Do you guys think there will be any BTGs left over? We have our fingers crossed because our tolerance for that sort of nonsense is very low.

Since our school year starts on the end of January you might avoid the bigger wave of tour groups.

Oh, btw, Carnaval is on February 12 next year. Although it's a Tuesday, we don't work on Monday nor Wednesday till 12PM. Most schools won't have classes the whole week so you might encounter a more Brazilian crowd in your last week. I don't know about groups, but you'll see more Brazilian families for sure (I arrive on the 6th but stay till the 26th).

That's fair enough! ;) I'm sure it's very frustrating for Brazilians to see themselves represented by such behavior!

We stayed at Poly last January and there most definitely was a huge touring group staying there. Made a few interesting occasions trying to get on the monorail = the group went from the front of the monorail line all the way into the building and then down the steps out to the pool. It was crazy!

I was at WDW last July, the 3rd week of the month...the BTG were EVERYWHERE...I knew it was gonna be busy when on the 1st day of my trip, I had just entered MK and was walking down Main Street when announcements were being made over the PA system...1st in English, then in Spanish...then in Portuguese!!!...that's when the FEAR hit me...but as the week went on I just made sure I was NOWHERE these groups, which actually worked...the only thing I really feared was that Fast Passes for rides would run out so soon or that my times would be so late at night...here is proof of what I feared...the tour leaders would get HUNDREDS of FPs for their groups...so I had to be selective of my ride choices...so just plan accordingly...I stayed at POP and DID NOT see any Brazilians staying there...

After all the negativity associated with these uncontrolled groups, I can't imagine why Disney would be begging them to come back. Oh wait, maybe it's profit? :confused3

Bingo! :rolleyes1 Even Mr. Obama has announced he wants more Brazilians (and Chinese and Indians) to spend more time (= money) in the USA. :teacher:

Summer holidays here are over by the end of january, beginning of february... I think you'll be fine.

But of course, we know that in general, American cheerleaders do not do the things that BTGs are notorious for.

I once heard something really nice about cultural behaviour. Someone was saying chinese, in the opening cerimony of Beijing 2008, were having/showing no emotions, being just like robots. Then someone replied "it's your mind as an ocidental person that is judging them. They are as excited as possible to be doing this".
I don't agree with the behaviour of Brazilian groups. But maybe they were doing things that, for us, are not as offensive as they are to you (although I think we are very americanized these days, and what probably offends you will offend us).
I know, when in Rome, do as the Romans... That's what I do, but don't try to teach this to a 15 year old with a lot of money and no parents around. :faint:

Totally agree! And hi, fellow DisBrazilian!

Thank you!

From everything I've read about the tour groups on these boards, they are in full force during the entire month of July.

and January..Lots and lots and lots of them in January..and at Universal too..I was so thankful for the onsite express pass for resort guests at Universal this past January.

Don't worry,I think most RATIONAL thinking people don't "blame" all of Brazil for the behavior of the tour groups!:)

For one thing, not ALL of the tour groups are from Brazil! There are LARGE numbers from Argentina and smaller numbers from other South American countries,BUT Brazil gets blamed for all of them!:)

I "lived" with the tour groups at All-Star Sports in July and, yes, they can be problematic,BUT "some" of the group members are really nice,well-behaved young people.:)

For example,my Birthday was during my trip and many of them, when seeing my Birthday Pin,would genuinely wish me a Happy Birthday in English.:)

I think the main problem is the sheer numbers in the groups-the numbers are STAGGERING-and with such enormous numbers a "pack mentality" takes over, but Disney will NEVER put a "limit" on the groups because their staggering numbers bring staggering revenue!

We were joking at All-Star Sports in July that the groups were spending enough to pay for New Fantasyland!:)

I ALSO go to WDW every December when Disney hires around 1,000 Brazilian college students to work during the busy Holiday Season.

They are EVERYWHERE and they are always some of my absolute favorite Cast Members!:)

They are, without exception, friendly, conscientious and hard-working Cast Members!I love talking to them-they represent your Country amazingly!

I always look forward to December because I know the friendly Brazilians will be EVERYWHERE!:)

So,when I think of Brazil,I think of the wonderful December Cast Members and not the problematic tour groups.:)
