Where Do You Stay When Paying Cash?

I have trips planned in May and November, banking 25 points. Now I'm strongly considering taking my first solo trip in August paying cash (as opposed to next August on points). I just have the urge to start my solo trips this year to see how I like them. So, the original question, where do you stay paying cash? I also figured I'd get an annual pass since I could use it this year and next, so any idea when those rates are released?

We stay at the All Stars and Coronado Springs we are very rarely in our room as we go to the parks from open to close so we see no point in staying in anything more when on cash. Plus they are our absolute favourite resorts on property I still prefer staying at All Stars to staying at OKW or VWL.

We're in point recovery after taking the extended family to WDW last summer. This summer we're staying at POR and paying cash. It'll be hard, as we've become used to the roominess of DVC, but we've got APs and the rooms are pretty inexpensive with the AP discount - so i guess we'll survive.

In early Feb, we stayed at PORFQ and liked it very much. We had a waterfront room for $94 per night (Florida resident rate). We could have gotten a standard view room for $74, but didn't jump quickly enough.

However, a couple of weeks ago, my daughter stayed PORFQ, also waterfront, also Florida resident -- and paid $194 per night!

With the Florida resident rates, we will probably stay in moderate resorts for weekends and only use DVC for weeknights.

If I'm going to pay cash I usually stay at All Star Sports. It's very inexpensive and it has a fun atmosphere. I like the Surf section or the Football section. Those sections are close to the pool, food court, buses, laundry and most importantly, THE BAR!!!

AP rates usually come out 2 - 3 months in advance. I usually check mousesavers.com. We've used AP rates a few times. We loved AKL. I have a room there this June on AP rate, but not sure if we can make it. CR was nice because of its location, but a little more expensive. We did CBR at Christmas. It was nice but huge! It was my first moderate and really liked it. But AKL is awesome, especially a savannah view.

Pop Century - lately.

Also stayed in the Polyn, COnt, Wl, BC, Yc, POR, ASmu - since becoming a member

I like Pop Century if you ever born in the 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90 - you will love this place...It is fun.

take time to look around at the building you are not staying in - bring back lots of memories for me....

We plan on going for a walk around POP in May when we are down there I think it would be so cool to look at all the stuff from my childhood LOL.

When I stay on cash, I like POR. I stayed there before we joined DVC. However, let me ask-why are you using cash when you're going solo? Is it because you think that would be "thriftier" than using a "whole studio" on a solo trip? That was my reason after we joined DVC-my next solo trip, I'd planned to stay at POR again (don't need all that room in a studio just for me). But then BCV opened, and I couldn't resist the lure of staying at a brand new resort-just once (Ha, Ha!) Came home, and talked DH into a 100 point add-on. Those 100 points are mine, just for my solo trips. And I don't have to worry about DH trying to use them-for him, it's OKW or nothing!

This Aug DS13 & I are staying in the Wilderness Lodge btwn our 6nights at VWL & our 6nights at BCV

head for US/IOA on the weekends...stay at RPR or PB or HRH, to take advantage of the FOTLpass:)

*gasp* Leaving WDW property!!
;);)

It really depends on what is the best deal. We have considered ASMov (I think DD would really like it) or AKL (we love it.) But this next trip we are our of points so we are staying at POR becuase we got a good deal on a email code next to our name (no such email ever came, had to call to ask) 88 a night with tax. :cool1:

We also stayed there before joining DVC and it was our favorite mod resort then. Hope it is still as good. This will be our stay night at a non DVC resort since joining (except one night at AKL for our 10 year wedding aniversary. :goodvibes )

That's what we do from time to time for one of weekends of our vacation. We usually fly to Orlando so stay two weekends on each trip. We have it planned for next Fall's trip and did it last year as well. There is nothing like front of line access.

We are trying all the Moderates. Sometimes we stay Deluxe, never have tried Value... Too small a room makes me cranky! We feel the Mods are a great mix of amenities and price, and the kids are trying out every cool pool at WDW. We have really enjoyed every Moderate so far. Our last one will be PO-FQ this summer before heading off to Beach Club Villas.

We stay on cash at either AKL or PORFQ. We have AP's, so it depends on the rates, I want to feel like I'm getting a good deal ;) We spend alot of our time at the hotel--after all, we are paying for it--so we need to stay at a resort that makes me feel pampered.

Copied from a previous post on this subject: OKAY, does anyone know what this means. Where is the code for POR for $88 a night including tax?? What email code? Can anyone help here?

We use the DIS for great rates at the Dolphin. It's equivalent to a deluxe resort, with plenty of amenities. I think there are something like 8 restaraunts.

Well, if you look at my signature, just about everywhere :)

Our favorite is AKL. We will do GF in the near future, but AKL is a really well done concept.
