Where do you shop for home decor stuff?

You know while we're on the subject. How do you decorate? Do you have a "theme" or do you just buy what you like? Do you start with a statement item and build off that?

My living room is full of stuff the family room though- not so much. I'm thinking of doing a photo wall(it's one of those high ceiling rooms- so I'm thinking along the wall behind the sofa doing black and white photos of the kids? maybe? Not sure yet.
The first step I find is always the hardest.
