Where do you shop for home decor stuff?

We are working on adding some pieces to our family room (art work, accent pieces, accent furniture). I was wondering where you all go for things like this? Can anyone suggest some good online sites for such things? Thanks!

I would try Target. I was just on their website myself looking for artwork. Thay have an amazing online selection.

Happy decorating! :)

Home Goods
TJ Maxx

Hobby Lobby is good because they run sales so frequently and usually have a 50% off one item coupon.

Our Hobby Lobby runs a 40% off coupon in the paper on Sunday. You can also sign up online and get one, too.

I like Kirklands. I actually look through their scratched pictures (usually just the side of the frame) and then I have different metallic paints I sponge on to touch it up.

Or you can get posters made at Sam's for a few dollars (perhaps other places do them, too, but I use them exclusively) . Take a good photo, change it to B&W and then find a good frame off the shelf at Hobby Lobby or wherever.

I have a cottage/french country kind of thing going and I actually go to thrift stores

You can always spray paint something a different color.

80% yard sale, 20% Ross. I've had great luck finding the nice things super cheap at Ross.

I'm very picky about the artwork in my house (size, color, style, etc), so I use Art.com . Zillions of things to choose from. It seems overwhelmingat first, but you can sort things by size, colors, style, etc. So when I wanted big, red, modern art for my living room, I just browsed through that stuff. Most is just poster quality, but when you frame it nicely no one can tell. Also they can put much of it onto a stretched-canvas-type look (my mother is considering this option for over her bed in earthquake-prone CA). There are usually some pretty good codes/coupons floating around.

I would say 90 percent of the non personal-photo art in our house came from that site or one other (allposter.com) like it.

For accessories I just keep my eyes open (and know measurements of spaces I'm looking to fill) at Target (great accent tables), Pier 1 Imports (big bamboo stuff), Cost Plus Imports, Z Gallerie, etc. A lot of my accessories come from trips or were given to me as gifts and I find somewhere to incorporate them.

For accessories I usually find some in Target, Home Goods, Kirkland's, TJMaxx, Pier 1 and Kohl's.

For art I look in those stores and also art.com and allposters.com. I don't have a Hobby Lobby but sure wish I did.

eBay. Probably half the decor in my log home came from eBay. Great selection and great prices and you can find anything you are looking for. :cool1:

A few years ago I got a nice print framed from art.com, otherwise, we have items from HomeGoods, Bombay Co. outlet.

I tend to find prints that I like, and take them to a local frame shop. Not so budget to frame, but many of my prints were free or gifts.

We travel a great deal so everything in our home is a found object from one of our trips. With the exception of the kitchen chairs and the couch in the tv room, every single piece of furniture or piece of art work or bud vase, etc. is from a trip. Headboard from India, table from Morocco, painting in front hall from New Zealand, etc. I love the way our home looks and that each piece we have has a story and a special memory behind it.

Home Goods, TJ MAxx, Marshalls, Ashley Furniture has some decent things that aren't too costly, Kirklands, Michaels (use their coupons) can't think of any more at the moment.

Some of my favorite stores are Home Goods, Garden Ridge, Hobby Lobby, Marshall's, TJMaxx, Z Gallerie, Old Time Pottery, and Kirklands Home. When we're back east, I also like to visit Christmas Tree Shops. Occasionally, I'll get lucky and find something good there. (Like a pair of embroidered silk drapes for $17!)

Christmas Tree Shops, Tuesday Morning, Target, Marshalls. I was just thinking about this - I was flipping through a Pottery Barn catalog and saw some beautiful ideas that I'm sure I could find something comparable for less. I need to update our living room, bathroom and bedroom.

As someone who has, in the last year, renovated my kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, computer/spare room, living room, dining room and TV room, I can tell you I have purchased tons of the kind of stuff you are looking for. I have gotten almost all of my purchases from www.ballarddesigns.com or HomeGoods. I LOVE both of these places! If you sign up at ballard, they will send you exclusive offers, like a % off on your order, so I would recommend you do that if you like their stuff and want to order from them.

I get most of my stuff from Target or Kohl's, and I've gotten quite a bit from Pier1 whenever they have sales.

Check to see if you have a Pottery Barn Outlet close, I have found great things here at huge savings!

I second the Pottery Barn outlet...though sometimes you just have to be there at the right time. We went last weekend and found nothing. I went yesterday around noon and found/purchased the Bedford desk set (3 cabinets, one desk top) which had just arrived in the store that morning. What I bought is still being sold in the catalog and would have totaled $900. But it only cost me $150, and these weren't even damaged, still in the box. SCORE! (Of course, when we went back that night to pick up our purchase, the guy told me they'd sold out of the rest...the really good deals go fast!)

For decorative or smaller pieces, I also have used overstock.com ; Garden Ridge (wall art) ; ZGallerie; Cost Plus World Marketplace.

And I haven't purchased from these, but I know there's Etsy.com (for even furniture), and UrbanOutfitters.com even has funky, modern decorative pieces.

Good luck!
