Where do you keep your college degrees?

My BS is nicely framed but in a box somewhere in the basement. My Masters is still in the envelope it came in. Not sure when/if I'll get it framed. Perhaps if I ever have a job where I have an office or if we had an office in our house.

DH's is framed and used to hang in his office (he's since changed jobs and doesn't currently have a good place for it). Mine :confused3? Can't remember the last time I saw that thing. I've never had it framed or displayed; I guess if I needed to verify my credentials for anything I'd have to order a set of transcripts.

Both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees are displayed on the wall in our home office, each inside super classy $10 frames from Target.

My 8th grade diploma is hanging at the school where I recived it from. It's a private catholic grade school so as a part of their anniversary display I donated it. Before then it was hanging in the basement. My Real HS diploma is in a folder in the bottom of the coffe table in the game room in the basement. The school offered plaques of the HS diploma and that's also in the basement game room.

My BA,MS, and Juris Doctorate are hanging on my home office wall along with both of my state bar licenses. I'm of the opnion that I worked extremely hard to get them I'm going to display them whenever and however I can.

My actual BSAG and MSAG degrees are in there padded folders in the china cabinet. Copies of them are above my desk in my office with the "diploma" from a leadership fellows workshop I won a scholarship and attended.

My B.A. is framed and hung on the wall right above our downstairs toilet. My M.A. is taped to the bottom corner of the frame.

This reminds me of those wisecrackers who'd scribble graffiti in college bathroom stalls. An arrow pointing to the roll of toilet paper and writing "U of (whatver) diplomas."

I don't know where either of my diplomas are or my husbands. I know 1 teacher that posts it at work and I thought that was odd. We all know that all of us have a college diploma...

I have no idea where any of my diplomas are at. In some box somewhere! Hopefully :).

I got mine framed as graduation presents (I have BA, MEd, EdS).

Wow, sounds kind of weird, but I've never known anyone else (aside from those in my graduating class) who have their EdS. Most people at my work actually have never heard of it., and I was starting to think that my university made it up lol!

Admittedly, I have no idea where my diplomas are. I'm most proud of my professional certification. That is framed & hung up in my office at work.

In a fire proof safe in the same padded faux leather folder they were given to me in.

Mine is on the wall in the guest room (Masters degree). The lower ones are somewhere at my Dad's house in a closet.

My husband and I have ours framed in our office. Little section of the wall with some other life stuff. I like the way the grouping looks. Never really thought about it more than that.

I do like the idea that maybe it makes our kids think college is important. I'll go with that. ;)

They are in the strong box like they have been for close to 40 years. Funny, you work so hard for them, and you list that you have them on your resume, but I sure never have heard of a prospective employer asking to see proof you actually have the degree you say you have.

They don't ask YOU, but that doesn't mean they don't ask for proof. It's fairly common to call the University, give them your SSN and ask for verification that you did indeed earn the degree that you said that you did.

As to my degrees; they are in their leather folders in a bookcase. DH has his framed on his office wall, but that's expected in his profession; while it is not commonly done by members of mine.
Whether or not you frame them and put them up at work tends to depend on the kind of work you do; clients would think it was weird if a physician or attorney didn't put them up.

We all might as well keep them in the bottom of a bird cage because that's all they are going to be good for if free college education is ever instituted:rolleyes1

Educational records are considered a private record and pretty much no reputable school will release a record without the direct permission of the student (or former student). Typically it has to be in the form of a direct request by the student, although it can be mailed to the employer/school/etc that is requesting it. I requested a few for my own records, and they come with special seals on the envelope. I don't think they're that tamper proof, but I guess some recipients feel better if it has some special tape over the envelope.

Both schools where I earned degrees can either issue certified transcripts or attendance records. Transcripts are self explanatory, but my attendance records are in different forms. One is a printout that states every term that I attended and lists my final degree and when it was granted. It doesn't include my minor in English literature (noted in my transcript). The other one is in a letter form where it states when I attended and when I graduated.

Both my and my husband's degrees are in what most would consider and unusual spot....the guest bathroom!!

Years ago, I decided to decorate my guest bathroom in a library theme (after all, some people jokingly call it 'the library'...). I did a leather-look treatment on the walls, found a wallpaper border that looks like a shelf of old books. Hung a neat wrought iron magazine rack in there; found a tissue box cover that looks like a stack of books....you get the picture. Well, libraries are good places to hang important documents...so I had our degrees framed and they hang in there. I didn't want our kids left out (at the time I did the room they were very young) so the fancy hospital birth certificates they got when they were born are framed and hanging in there too.

I get a lot of great comments from guests about the room!

Personally I don't see anything wrong with posting diplomas. Do you know how hard I worked getting my degree's while working, do you know how much I paid? Heck yeah I want those things up where I can see them. I'm PROUD of them. They are an accomplishment. Of course I also have my 6th grade science fair trophy on a shelf :rolleyes1 I'm proud of that too. :P
