Where do you keep your college degrees?

For the record my living room is rather informal and tends to resemble a den or family room as much as it does a living room. My home office is a corner of our rather large bedroom, but we have other artwork in our bedroom, and to me, a framed diploma would be out of place there.

My bachelor's degree is framed, but wrapped up and in one of the closets somewhere in this house...

My HS diploma, associate's degree, a few other formal certificates, college valedictory award, and DH's HS diploma and bachelor's degree are in a plastic storage bin in the basement with our yearbooks.

What does it hurt? I think it's sweet.

:rotfl2:

I don't know... maybe its because I'm one of four children and they now have 2 grandchildren then have graduated high school and 1 in 7th grade and I'm the only one they have stuff on display for? My siblings are quite a bit older then me but I don't remember them displaying stuff when I was younger of theirs either. I don't like being singled out. even for good things.

I always thought it was kind of weird to see degrees hung up in homes outside of a home office/home study. DH's is in our filing cabinet somewhere. Mine is outrageously huge and obnoxious and in a frame somewhere in one of the closets.

At work a lot of the "office" people have a small corner of their office where they hang their degrees, which doesn't bother me. Almost all of us out in the cubicles have degrees and professional certifications and only a few people have theirs hung up. You can probably guess what the general consensus is on those people ;)

I'm not even sure. LOL. Probably in a box somewhere in my storage room. I have high school, college, law school, plus my bar admission certificate (a huge thing). I always personally disliked a "brag" wall, and never put them up anywhere.

Hmmmm..... I think it might be in a box in a closet somewhere, I'm not really sure.

No idea where my undergrad one is (and even less of an idea of where my high school one is). My MSc is still in its envelope and filed away. My PhD is on the wall in my den.

Mine has been in a folder in a filing cabinet for years and I have no clue where DH's is. DH and I got married a few months after I graduated from college and I had my college diploma proudly displayed on the wall of our spare bedroom that we used as an office/computer room. Once our twins were born and we bought our current house and moved, the college diploma got filed away and has never resurfaced  If I ever finish grad school and have an advanced degree and my own office then I will probably display them :goodvibes.

I dunno, it's kind of sad to see that everyone (including myself) keeps their hard-earned degrees tucked away somewhere, never to be seen again.

This thread has reminded me that my DH's chef's medal was burned in a fire because he had it with his "stuff" out in the shed. If I ever get around to seeing if I can replace it for him, it's going in the home office, framed, too.

These are things we should be proud of!! :goodvibes

Have no idea where my HS diploma is. It was 5x7 and came in a keepsake padded folder in school colors. I never had it framed.

My bachelor's degree is from UC Berkeley (I've noted that before) and is 8-1/2x11. I didn't like any of the diploma frames and just did it myself with an 11x14 frame and a photo mat with an 8x10 opening. My masters is from a private school and strangely enough came in 8x10, which made for a lot more choices in frames. I've got this beefy frame which is about the same size as the 11x14. I've got them up in our bedroom.

Once I asked about getting a second copy of my bachelors diploma and told it could only be issued if the original was lost or damaged. Also, that diploma contained reproductions of the signatures of the President of UC, the campus Chancellor, the Dean of the College of Engineering, and the Governor of California. If I were to get a replacement, those signatures change to the current ones. Also, that diploma doesn't state my major - only that it was in the College of Engineering. I've also heard some reports that some UC students claimed they voted for Schwarzenegger (sp) just because they wanted his signature on their diplomas.

They are all in my office at work. 2 on the wall and 2 on a shelf.

I will be 42 when I finally graduate in May. I made mistakes when younger and never finished. In 2010 I started at Penn State and will graduate in May after a long 4 years of working FT, being a single parent, and going to school. You can bet your sweet bippy that my Degree will hang in all of its glory somewhere in my living room. :)

I had my college diploma framed, but it was never displayed anywhere. It's long since been misplaced, lost, accidently thrown out, or what have you. Probably when I was moving between places. Rutgers wanted $50 to issue a new one. I passed.

My mom saved my HS, junior high, and even kindergarten "diploma" and those are in a box in the attic.

My BA and MA are both hanging in frames on our wall in our hall.
My H's degrees also hang on the wall in our hall.

It's a hallway with several doors, so does not clash with any decor. I'd be hard pressed to think of something better to display in that space.

My parents had their degrees on the wall in our house growing up, it was something that always stuck out to me as a kid. I liked the reminder that education was important to them, and spent time as a small child aspiring to go to the same Uni. I like seeing diplomas in peoples homes.

I can't fathom why someone would call it tacky. And I fail to see how it is bragging either -- no more than my vacation photos are bragging about the awesome places I go, or art hung on my walls is bragging that I'm more cultured than you. If a person sees a diploma on a wall and is put off by it, that might say more about them than you.

Mine are filed. I don't hang much of anything. If I did, however, they'd be front and center in my house. I worked hard for them. OP, your friend doesn't get to decide how you decorate; you do. Your friend, half joking or not, is pretty rude.

My associate's and undergraduate degree is in a box somewhere. We didn't have the money to get them framed when I graduated and I haven't bothered since. My professional license is required to be displayed at work, so it's framed and hanging above my workstation. Everyone has their license displayed, so it's not a big deal. My doctorate is framed because my mom insisted and gave it to me as a graduation present. If I ever have my own office at home, I'll get everything nicely framed and display them there.

Congrats to you! :) I worked my butt off for my degree, you better believe it is going to be displayed where I can see it every day.
