Where do you grocery shop when staying at DVC?

You can always send a package to yourself from home with non parishable items. My sister does this and it works great. Delivery items are much less this way

how stinking smart is that :cheer2: why didnt i think of this. but my question is where does she ship it to?? the front desk ???

That is an awesome idea!!!! You are the best. I could send our cereal, stuff to make coffee cake etc. I just might have to do that. Thanks again.

Well aren't we the smart one in the grandstands. Send yourself a package. I bet the fish does not smell so good when it gets there. :rotfl:

Just kiddding, that is a great idea and wish we had thought of it. Well we half did. We typically ship things home to make the return trip better.

Thanks again for that great idea.

I have nothing but good tings to say about garden grocer. They even delivered us a bag of ice. If you ask, they will deliver wine too!

Wal-Mart Supercenter
3250 Vineland Road
Kissimmee, FL 34746
We really like this Wal-mart. It is about 4 miles from SSR. They have great prices and they even have a "Disney" section with good prices on t-shirts, key chains, autograph books, hair accessories, etc...:thumbsup2

Another vote for GardenGrocer when I don't have a car. Otherwise it's Publix - they carry Boar's Head products.

The Walmart drove me insane. I was waiting in line for over 30 minutes. And this was at 10 pm!! Not worth the drive.

publix or walmart. both are close and very, very nice.

love Publix they have never played the game - that walmart does.

have one price on the shelf and another on the item.

with walmart (and everybody else) you have to watch the prices.

Publix has never done this to me. Hopefully they never will. It is nice to find a business - that is clean, pleasant, and honest.

Winn-Dixie is worst than Walmart about prices.

Waited in line for 30 minutes at 10pm? Can we say self checkout? How about another line? How many people could there be at a supermarket at 10pm?

We have also been to Publix. Not too bad.

The comments about the GardenGrocer have me interested. Yes it costs a bit of money, and we get a car everytime. But I hate to waste time shopping if someone else will bring it to me. For that matter, I need to figure out how I can get Dunkin Donut's to bring my morning ice coffee.

Have you ever been to the Wal-Mart close to WDW? I have and I can see this.....
We went one night a few years ago, it was almost Mid-Night, the place looked like BLACK FRIDAY :crazy2: . I wish I could say I was kidding. We went to WD or Publix the day before, can't remember which, and they were out of most everything we needed. So, the next night when we finished at the parks and weren't really tired thought we'd head to WM to pick up the water & pepsi. I could not beleive my eyes, it was a madhouse. Anyhow, we now use a delivery service......we choose wegoshop.com mainly because we can purchase ANYTHING, we're not forced to choose from a list.

yes everytime we have gone down we go to WM. Except the last time we went. Always during the day. Never seen lines like that. I guess we need to look at Gardengrocer or your recommendation wegoshop.com

Thanks

That must be the problem then.......everyone decides to go at night. But it appears it may be easier to go during the day while everyone is in the parks. Ha, never thought of that. Well have to remember that next time we rent a car and NEED something from WM.

I'll second the Winn Dixie on 535/Vineland. It is very close as we stay at OKW most of the time. The Winn Dixie seems to be easy in and easy out.

I go to either that Winn Dixie or the Publix that DVC Mike noted. It's right on 192 quite close to the main entrance to WDW but isn't shown on the map that someone posted. It's at the intersection of International Drive and 192....NE corner.

I, too, like the Publix at Xentury Plaza (the one on International Drive S and 192. If you take Osceola Parkway, it's a right turn at Gaylord Palms, and the store is on the left just after the overpass. As someone mentioned they carry Boar's Head meats, and do a nice job with package meals, I've had 2 of their turkey dinners for different Christmas dinners.

Last December we used Marge at the wegoshop delivery service and it was very satisfactory. They will shop the store you choose, no markup on the groceries and charge a reasonable shopping and delivery fee. Check out their website at wegoshop.com to get more details.

Yes, the fees are reasonable, but there is also an expected gratuity, which took me off guard when I hired her last week--I don't remember seeing it on
the website. I ended up tipping 20%--30.00--on top of her fee of 22.00. Also my groceries cost about twice what I would have paid at Winn Dixie if I had gone myself, and even though I said to buy store brands, many items were name brands, bringing my total up to the next category, and giving her a bigger fee, and therefore a bigger tip. Not sure if I will use this service again-- I felt a little cheated.:sad2:

Search the internet for the best prices on delivery services, they still beat the on site store, (by a large margin!) Or contact Enterprise car rental, they pick you up and you can rent for 1 day do all your shopping and return the car, then they will drive you home. The best prices we have found off site are at the Super Walmart.. Good luck!
