Where do you go to get a GAC?

I tried searching for this, as I know it must be here somewhere, but had no luck. I apologize if this has been asked (a million times :teeth: ) before.

Can anyone list the locations for each park where you can get a guest assistance card? Can you get them at a less crowded place, like Downtown Disney or your resort, or are they only inside the parks?

Thanks!

If you look in the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there is a long post about GACs that explains everything.

They are only available at Guest Relations, not at Downtown Discy or at your resort. You need to be at a site where the CMs are Guest Relations CMs and your best place to find those are at Guest Relations inside the parks. Some of the parks also have a Guest Relations outside where they can help you, but you would still have to be at a park.

You're welcome.
Since I looked at the information again for you, I decided to bold some things to make the information easier to find the most pertinent information. Do you think that is helpful?

Sue - yes! You have effectively highlighted (bold type) the main points that seem to get asked frequently on this board. Perhaps making a sub-bullet in bold out of the statement that "GAC's cannot be obtained from Downtown Disney Guest Services because they have no attractions" - would help clarify the "can I get a GAC at Downtown Disney" questions. :confused3

While learning the GAC "ropes", I asked for a GAC at Downtown Disney once because it was our first stop at the beginning of a WDW vacation and that was the response the CM gave me. I have also found that I prefer asking for GACs inside the park rather than at the outside location more "comfortable" since I don't have to try and communicate through a glass window. At the glass window, I have to speak so loud that I feel like I'm sharing my personal information with everybody waiting in line behind me. Inside, I can speak quietly to a CM. So, for those who are sensitive about discussing their needs, they may want to wait until they get inside the park to visit Guest Services:thumbsup2

Thanks for the feedback.

it's been a long time since I have gone to Guest Services outside the parks, but I did want to point out that the places they sell tickets may not have Guest Services CMs (they may just be ticket sales and don't do the same services as Guest Services CMs).

Thanks again for all the help. In the past I've gotten a GAC because I can't go up stairs easily, due to a femur fracture, rod and screws in place now, and severe arthritis in the area, due to all of this. I have only ever gotten a GAC at the MK, so wasn't familiar with the other places.

Our next trip is during President's Week, and I expect it will be more crowded than our usual Jan trips. We are staying at BWV. I was just trying to save some of that early morning precious park time, and hoping not to spend it waiting in line for a GAC. Was hoping to go over to the IG at Epcot on the afternoon we arrive (but not have to go into the park, as I'm not using a park ticket that day), or to DTD, which is where we're going our first day for Disney Quest.

Thanks again!

Well, now you know that you can't get one at Downtown Disney, so you won't have to waste any time trying there.
Whether you can get one or not at IG (International Gateway) will depend on whether or not there are Customer Service CMs working at those booths then or not. I remember reading that sometimes there are Customer Service CMS there and sometimes there are not (I guess at Epcot, they are the ones with plaid vests).
Hopefully Cheshire Figment can explain since I think he explainned the distinction before.

What I did, was to go to Guest Services the night that we came in. You do not need to enter the parks for this. So you do not need to use a ticket.

There was no line, no crush of people. It was just me. I went right up to the window, told them that I had just arrived and I was trying to get things in order for the week.

I asked for a GAC, for the wheelchair entrance, since I can't do stairs. She asked how long I would be there and how many in my party.

It didn't take 5 minutes.

I also picked up a Birthday Button for my son, for the next morning. :thumbsup2
