Where do you get good, inexpensive everyday dishes?

Another vote for Correlle as well. And, yes, it is still made in the US... in Corning, NY.

If you happen to be near outlets, you could buy it in pieces and get just what you need.

I also found it in white on the Walmart site for a great price.

I found a set I really liked at Wal-Mart, it was $20, it's a glass set and it came with 4 squared bowls, 4 square dinner plates and 4 square dessert plates. I LOVE them!!! We don't use them daily but I love them!! I want to get another set so we can have a setting for 8, not that we hardly ever entertain but these would be nice to have for that. I didn't need or want cups and saucers so that was not a breaking point for me but they also had a standard round glass set with the cups and saucers for the same price.
Anyway, when I was shopping for my new dishes I also saw plenty of plain white dishes at Wal-Mart, I would absolutely check them out.

My "good" dishes are Fiestaware and I do love them, but they are very heavy. I had some Tupperware plates and some cheap plastic stuff from Target that I used when the kids were younger. It saved me the headaches when they were in the "drop it and break it" phase of life. I was tired of the cheap stuff and it looked pretty beat up, but I like to have something that can go outside since we dine al fresco most of the warm season.

I really wasn't looking forward to buying more plastic and ended up finding some red, white and blue Correlle on the clearance rack at Wal-Mart. I guess they had this with their 4th of July stuff last year. I bought four place settings for $15. Each setting was a dinner plate, a very small plate and a bowl. I didn't care that they didn't come with coffee cups. I ended up purchasing lunch size plates as singles since Wal-Mart carried them in the same pattern.

I love this stuff. It doesn't break and cleans up like a dream. It looks brand new nearly a year later. I would buy more Correlle in a heartbeat! I wish we still had an outlet nearby.

I'd Check TJMaxx or Home Goods. I've found some really nice stuff there.

I second this. Our everyday flatware we received for our wedding was totally beat. I went to Marshall's and found a replacement set by Wallace for very cheap. I noticed at the time they had Portmeirion Botanicals, for a great deal too. OP, I know you're looking for white, but Portmeirion is usually pretty $$, so I bet they have a lot of other sets too.

Another suggestion is if you're near a Lenox outlet. They have terrific everyday stoneware at good prices.

My everyday dinner plates were the only things that had worn out. A few years ago, I bought a bunch of plain white dinner plates at Walmart, and really like them a lot. They're large and nice and heavy. At the time, I think I paid $1.00/plate. I just checked, and they are made in China, however.

I would be leery of lead content on those and would also worry about using them in the microwave. Sometimes going that cheap costs you way more down the road, IYKWIM.

I got mine on sales years ago from Land's End, of all places. They are holding up amazingly well. They look sort of like Fiestaware (which I really want someday!)

I agree with the Corelle suggestion. I got my set at Wal-Mart.

Most of it has held up well--they are mostly white pieces and haven't stained. One of my bowls spontaneously broke, though. Not sure how or why as I thought this stuff was supposed to be indestructible!

I just bought service for 4 at Tuesday Morning. I decided to bring them home to test them for a couple of weeks before going back to buy a couple more boxes. I paid $30 for a set by Gibson. I LOVE them! They are not only beautiful but sturdy and they microwave GREAT! I can tell they are going to last a long, long time!

Another vote here for Correlle. My set is plain white, but they have plenty of patterns too. I live near a Correlle outlet, but Walmart and Amazon usually have good prices on the sets.

I like how thin it is, because it doesn't take up as much cabinet space. DH has bounced a couple of pieces off our tile kitchen floor, with no damage at all.

Another vote for Corelle. It holds up really well, is relatively light, and stacks nicely so you can fit a bunch of plates in a small space.

I've had mine for 15 years, and over the years, had lost a few pieces (they will break if dropped if they hit in a particular way). My pattern had been discontinued and I needed more settings. I wanted new plates to be made in the USA, so I looked online and was thrilled to find that Corelle is (I had been considering running down to Ikea.)

I went to the Corning/Corelle outlet store in Westbrook CT, and was going to buy a whole new set-but lo and behold, they had brought my pattern back! I got what I needed, and they were having a sale too! I was way under my budget, which was nice.

I have always used Corelle, and I LOVE them!!!! The only reason I got new Corelle a few years ago, is because I wanted a new pattern. My dad still uses the same Corelle he had when I was a kid, and believe me, that was a LONG time ago.

I could have practically written this post!

My mother still uses the gold flowered set we got in the 70s. I remember the day we bought it, the salesperson was dropping plates on the floor to demonstrate how it stood up to everyday use!

My parents gave DH and I a gold set too early on. We upgraded in the 90's to a different pattern (peach and green hearts, lol). We got our 3rd Corelle set last year after we remodeled our kitchen (black and white abstract flowery pattern). It's probably safe to say we will always have Corelle - for many of the reasons others have mentioned. They're thin, pretty and practically indestructible. I don't know that we've EVER had one break! (ETA DH says no!)

We were given a Pfaltzgraff set for our wedding. Never liked it. Last year I traded it out for plain white plates from Crate and Barrel for entertaining. So far, so good.

I've always had Corelle and always will. I got plain white in the square dishes and when I get bored I go to the Corelle outlet and buy a few patterned plates to mix in with the white, to add a little color. I can buy individual replacement pieces at Walmart, Target and even Publix. They will break if you drop them just right on a tile floor - I know this first hand

I had Corelle for 10 years and needed a change. I bought my Fiestaware about two years ago and have been adding on here and there I just LOVE my Fiestaware. They are heavy, but very chip resistant. If anyone lives near or vacations in Pigeon Forge TN, they actually have a couple of outlets...one at Tanger one at the Z-buda (Red Roof)...I got my Revere hard anodized cookware set at the Zbuda outlet store, for 100 (as opposed to 150 at the Tanger one,and 200 online), as they carry seconds,with warranty. They have pyrex,Corelle as well as some others.Right outside the door at the Zbuda outlet store are coupon books for extra off.
