Where do you Eat the First night at WDW?

Our first meal when we get to WDW is always lunch at Cosmic Ray's. After some time in MK and getting settled in the room, we head over to EPCOT and our first dinner is Garden Grill. The character meal aspect is a great way to kick off a vacation, and after a long day of traveling GG is the quietest and most relaxed character meal, IMO.

We usually just eat in the resturant of that particular resort. This time its going to be Boatwrights. I know Kevins review was bad but I will give every place a chance. Just to make up my own mind.

Last year it was CM. We decided then and there to make that our "family arrival night tradition." EXCEPT. This year we are arriving on Father's Day, so DH begged for Ohana, his fav. So that's our arrival night dinner this year.

We always have dinner at Tony's in MK on the evening we arrive. This tradition got started when DS (who is a pasta fanatic) decided before our first visit that he did NOT want to go to WDW. It was just for girls, and very boring. He was quite adamant on the topic.

We had to bribe him into the park the first night with a big bowl of spagetti and meatballs in the hope that would put him in the mood for a WDW vacation. Spectromagic was starting when we walked into the park, then he had a great time at Tony's... it convinced him maybe there was more to WDW than princesses. So we always go back.

We tend to be "no park on arrival day" kind of people, so we hit Downtown Disney and I get my Earl of Sandwich fix. :goodvibes

We don't have a traditional place to eat on our first day. It is just whatever we feel like doing that trip. We are usually in DTD the first night so we have always eaten somewhere around there. However, on our trip this past December we went to 1900 Park Fare. When we are there in March we are going to be eating at our Resort (POFQ) then taking the boat down to DTD to go shopping and have ice cream at Ghiredllis.

We received some bad news right before our last trip to the world. Going to Hoop De Doo the night we arrived was the perfect way to forget about all the troubles at home, have a great time and get ready for a fun filled week.
Plus, taking the boat to Fort Wilderness from the WL was very relaxing, and it was fun to walk around FW before the show.

we normally start our first day in MK so we eat at liberty tree tavern:) this has ben a tradition since-- 2006:)

I love this place as well. last year we went there the 2nd day and the 4th day. The service makes the food that much better.:cloud9:

Same here we just hang out in a water park, downtown disney or just explore the resort. After travelling so far (and being jet lagged) the parks are just too overwhelming.

Over the years it has either been Chef Mickey's or The Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney. This May we are opting for Chef Mickey's again! I love the atmosphere there plus the Parmesan Mashed Potatoes:banana:

As we always seem to come In at diffrent times,we always eat at diffrent and untill this up comeing trip we have really never made adr's at a place. This up comeing trip we will have our opening meal at the Beirgarten!!!:cool1:

We drive down so our first day it usually spent at the pool. We never give EP a full day so we catch the few rides we like there around adr's that are there. Last year we changed it up and did Ohana's and no one really wants to go back. I have a month to figure out the layout of this year's trip and I am beginning to panic!!

we dont have a specific arrival day "ritual"..we eat somewhere different each time. arrival day on our July 2009 trip, we ate at Wolfgang Puck; January 2010 trip = Biergarten; and our upcoming May trip we plan to go to Teppan Edo :)

We don't have any set place that we eat, just a set location. We always spend our first day in the Magic Kingdom, so we choose where we will have dinner based on that. It's usually somewhere in one of the monorail resorts. On our next trip, we'll be making a reservation at California Grill.

Casey's! this is probably our favorite place in MK to eat! we ALWAYS eat here first :)

The first day, we usually get to Orlando in the afternoon, since we have a 4 hour flight. The we go to DTD, go to the shops, eat at Earl of sandwich, and the go for dessert al Reaglan Road.

We usually check in late afternoon (at the Beach Club the last few years) and always have our first dinner at Cape May Cafe there in the resort. Even though it isn't a character meal, we still look forward to our first night dinner there (I think as much for the tradition as the food). During that dinner is when it finally sinks in every year that we are really at Disney and ready for a great vacation. This year we are trying something new and staying at the Poly. Our daughter's 12th bday is our arrival day, so she got to pick the dinner. She chose 1900 Park Fare. We love that one too.

We really enjoy going to Raglan Road the first night. It's nice to have dinner out of the parks the first night and maybe just stroll through DTD and relax before we start a fun filled week at the parks.

If we get in early enough for dinner, we usually eat dinner at Kona. One of our favorite TS. Next time though we may switch to Wolfgang Puck Cafe-we ate there 3 times last trip-I think it's our new favorite TS. So good!:cloud9:
