Where do you buy groceries/supplies while @ FW?

We shop at the Winn Dixie on 535 which is about 12 minutes from the front Fort entrance (and about 10 minutes coming back because of "right on reds").

Sure is a lot cheaper than the Trading Posts. We usually check in on day 1, hit WD that night with a list and menu, and make one "mid-vacation" run to WD to get whatever we ran out of or need.

Whatever you do (Publix or WD or WalMart), don't go to the Goodings at the end of the boulevard coming off Downtown Disney across the 535 Highway. Major Ripoff!

Saving money by grocery shopping, eating at the campsite, eating healthier than at a restaurant, makes those Disney trips more affordable. Plus, the beer is cheaper at WD :bounce:

I don't know if I would call Goodings a Major Ripoff, but it's definitely not the cheapest, but does have a decent bakery and is the closest to WDW. While the TPs are really proud of their beer/wine/liquor and some of the other convenience type stuff IIRC the milk and even tomatoes weren't too overpriced.

I always post the same thing when this question comes up. DD and I took a trip to goodings to pick up a few things once and the bill was double what it would be at W/D or Publix. I walked out of the store and left the items on the counter and we found the W/D quickly.

ED! You are back on! Where have you been??? I missed ya!

Jen,

Laying low. No trip to FW on the horizon for now. I chip in now and then - I might take a year or two off before heading back. The last couple trips I want to go to the theme parks less and less and just hang out at the Fort more and more....

Good luck with your July 4 planning! And how many days till kickoff?.......

PS-a proud supporterof the Sabanator!:upsidedow

Hmm, been so busy losing softball games that I haven't thought about it...I guess I must go and make up a ticker for it. I have also been trying to get ressies for memorial day since we had to cancel our ressies in Feb. because I fell and broke some bones. I hope you had a better February than I did! :scared1:

Made the mistake of going to Goodings since we only needed four things. Based on the cost, I should have needed help carrying the stuff but sadly it was all in one small bag. Hope you Auburn and Bama supporters can tolerate a national champion TIGER on the boards!!

I love the Publix Sweet Tea and Lemonade by the gallons....yummy. About the same price as a single drink at WDW...lol Does the Fort have sweet tea as a bottomless cup option?

there ought ta be a law against " sweet " tea...........:sad2:

i think there is in michigan........

I got tricked into trying this sweet, syrupy stuff once. Just not my "cup of tea" if you know what i mean

Sweet tea is the bomb! I hate to visit in-laws in MI. When we go out to eat I, without thinking, order sweet tea and the waitress looks at me like I have two heads!! :rotfl2:

Naw, shucks, even the corn dogs from Whoville are welcome on this board.

Besides, we all know that The Hat won the national championship with Saban's players! :happytv:

PS-to keep this post FW-themed, I would add that the number of trips made to an off-site grocery store is inversely proportional to the size of one's fridge. I avoid the Trading Post food purchases (but love them souvenirs):cloud9:

I don't usually drink coffee, so sweet tea helped me get through college. I had one particular professor that kept me up nights for three quarters straight! Most of us in the south assume tea is sweet already. What is funny is watching unknowing peoples put artificial sweetner in there and watch them pucker!
