Where do you buy groceries/supplies while @ FW?

On our last trip we discovered that the Express Hess near the front of the Mk is another place you can get milk or soda's at a fair price without having to drive off property. Coke's were 2 of the 12 packs for $5. they also sell beer and wine. Patsy

Publix for food, Wal-mart for supplys and sam's for beer we take 10 cases with us our sam's have a case of beer for $15.96

Sweet tea is the greatest invention ever. Of course, you kind of have to be from the south to have it in your system from birth, but I wish every place served sweet tea.

Although, to be honest, I like all kinds of tea, I don't really drink coffee so tea is my drink of choice. But man, if they have sweet tea available, trust me, I am getting that first, no doubt about it. I grew up on that stuff (come from a large southern family ;)).

Heck, even the McDonalds down here advertise that they serve sweet tea, I wonder if they do that everywhere or just in the south....lol.

McDonalds sweet tea aint too bad either...but RALLY'S/CHECKER'S sweet tea is INCREDIBLE

The best sweet tea is Texas Tea which is tea and crown royal. Now that is SWEET TEA!!!!:woohoo:

Dont s'pose I could even argue that. "Thru the teeth and over the gums, lookout stomach, here it comes"!!

lol, I dont' think it matters where Walt was from, since Walt Disney World is in the south, and that's all I care about!!!

Sorry northerners, WE GOT IT FIRST!!! ;) Well technically second, but don't get me started on Disneyland....lol

Anyone ever been to a Food Lion in Florida before? I don't even know if they're still around, I know when I lived in Tampa there was one, it was like a cheaper version of Winn Dixie.

Hmm, doing some research, it does appear that they are still around, and in Florida, but the closest one to Orlando is about 30 miles away.

I've never seen them down in the southern parts of the state, only in the central to northern parts.

Food Lion was the chain that was exposed a few years ago for rewrapping meat - they were taking old chicken and rinsing it with bleach to get rid of the smell, then rewrapping it for sale. I'm surprised they are still in business.

I'm not surprised, like I said, they're basically a cheaper version of Winn Dixie (not that there is anything wrong with Winn Dixie, but their quality has gone down in recent years, trust me, I used to love Winn Dixie, especially their meat department :( ).

I'm surprised Food Lion is still in business just because of how crappy they were 10 years ago.

Yep we remember that I think was a 60min segment and IIRC it was more than just chicken they were using a diluted bleach solution in repackaging and extending the expiration date on. If I remember it also brought back the look of the meat too.

I've heard of stores using carbon monoxide to turn beef back red. God only knows what we get.

I only buy meat at the commissary and they never repackage meat, but simply freeze it and put it on a discount sometimes 50% off the original price that was already 20 to 30% less than on the civilian market. I often get tenderloin steaks for like $4/lb and lamb chops for $5/lb and as long as you thaw them the day you are using them I haven't had any issues in using this type meat in over 20 years. A couple of weeks ago I got like a 6lb choice rib roast that was originally like $26 for like $13 ... I just stick that in the deep freeze and use it later when the time is right.
