I'm going to WDW for the first time this June with my boyfriend and another couple. We're all poor college kids and have been saving forever. Deluxe resorts are out of the question this year...but we're deciding between pop century or a moderate. Any suggestions....anything that made a difference in your stay will be helpful. Thanx. ::MickeyMo

My suggestion to you would be Pop Century or one of the other value resorts. I go to Disney for the food, rides, shows, and exhibits, not for the hotel I stay at. I'm only at the hotel to sleep and shower, so I don't need the amenities that come with moderates and/or deluxe resorts. If you don't mind me asking, what do you guys have to work with financially and maybe I can give more info if you wish. My preference would be either the Allstar Music Resort which I have stayed at or Pop Century which is brand new and I've heard pretty good things about.

We're planning on spending somewhere between 3000 and 4000, but the less we spend on the resort, the more we can spend on food and everything else

You're honestly not in your room very much, there's just so much to see and do, I wouldn't waste $ on a moderate.

We've been to POP & ASM, both we're very similiar. It did seem as if POP was laid out a little closer together than ASM, which meant the walking wasn't as bad. POP is new also, so that's a plus. POP has it's own bus stop, ASM shares with the other AS's.

Was the $3000-4000 for the four of you or just you and your boyfriend? We spend that for a family of five for 7 days, total for everything last thing.

We got a package deal. The 3000-4000 is for the four of us, 7 days and including flights and park tickets.

I have never been to POP but have stayed at Value and Moderate resorts. Our first trip we really wanted to go to WDW but were also poor college kids! :) We chose all stars and were totally happy with it. We spent little time in the room, the food court was convenient and the price is right. I would recommend staying at POP as I have read great reviews about it and since it is newer, I would take it over all stars. Best of luck!

Being a poor college kid (and I know how that is...) umm... I asked the same question as you did or basically did. One person said to me something like: if you stay at a value you'll complain about the decor, if you stay at a moderate you'll complain about the money you coulda saved by staying in the value. After hearing that, unless I can get an EXCEPTIONAL deal on a moderate, I'm gonna stay in a value (POP to be exact). You just have to have an open mind when you stay at the POP. The decor is gawdy.

Stay at a value. You guys will be out of the room a great deal I think and having fun at a park in the day and DTD in the evening. Save your money for food and nightlife. You will have spent it better and it will be more enjoyable for you. The only thing I woiuld say about the resort choice for you other than money savings it about the pool. If you plan on spending a great deal of time at the pool then a mod may be something to think about. I do not know if it would be worth it to you but you should look at this. The pools at the All Stars when I stayed there were nothing but small kids and they are small compared to other pools. Not that there is anything wrong with small kids but you may want to have a bigger pool with an age mix and more room to soak.

We've (DH & I) stayed at Pop and we loved it, it was such a fun atmosphere! So, for fun, go Pop, POFQ is really romantic, so for romance go with POFQ. Really, I think you will have a great time which ever you choose.
Sometimes you can get an AP (annual pass) rate of $79 for POFQ, but otherwise I think Pop is your best deal. JMO

We are a young, poor, just out of college couple and we stayed at POP Century last September. I had never stayed at a value and was really nervous, but we had a BLAST! The room may be a little small for 4 adults, but you're used to living in small dorms and apartments, right? :) It is such a high energy, fun resort, and you really feel the Disney magic for your entire stay! I would definitely say STAY AT POP :earsboy: I'm so jealous, can we come too :)

PS- Let me know if you want me to send you some pics.

I agree with everyone else - stay at a value resort. POP would be great.

IHMO, the only significant advantage moderates have over values is the pool. Unless you plan on spending a lot of time at the pool - save your money, spend it on something really important to most college kids - beer.

Have fun.
