Where do DVCers like to eat offsite?

I try to make it to Crab House and Steak and Shake since we don't have either here in NJ.

if you drive - stop at a rest stop and get some of the free magazine - lots of time - they have 10% to 20% off alot of these restuarants.

We love Olive Garden. When we've had enough of restaurant food, we can get good comfort food with soup and salad (I must have my vegetables) and our smallest will have spaghetti and have one meal that isn't chicken strips. There are seven of us and if we all have water (get juice, soda and milk at the grocery store) we can eat VERY resonably here. We also like Red Lobster, for consistant quality. Macaroni Grill is good. We like Perkins for breakfast. Haven't tried Pebbles, but we will. We're from the heart of steak country and are pretty picky about them. Haven't found one we like down there yet.

We will never go to the Crab Shack again, it was absolutely horrible. We ate once at a chinese place on Int'l Drive and it was some of the worst food we have ever eaten. But the worst experience was at the Sizzler . . . we actually left our food (had to pay for it) and drove thru McDonalds. Not fond of Denny's either.

Geez, we sound kind of picky, but I don't think we are. We are very happy with the food at Disney, but have to save a buck now and then when we're there. We LOVE Teppanyaki in Epcot.

Just out of curiosity, when do you go offsite to eat?

We never seem to have any desire to leave WDW property. When do you go? I checked some of these places' menus, they are much cheaper. Do you actually make a point to go offsite to eat?

When we are at OKW we have a rental car . When we do go off-site, I am talking about next to DD by Crossroads(TGIF's,Tony Romas, etc).Which is about a 3 minute drive from OKW. We usually go around 5:30-6:00 pm.
I would never venture out any farther because that would defeat the purpose of staying on-site, if you get stuck in traffic(192 and I-4).;)

Agreed. I do go off-site to eat but not that far off-site.

Orlando Ale House. They have a great chicken nacho appetizer. One word of warning....do not order anything else if you order the chicken nachos because the appetizer is huge!

two words WAFFLE HOUSE....oh how i love those hash browns with cheese and onions stacked in a triple order along with the steak and eggs.....this place is the original "greasy spoon"....oh yes you all can have your shi-shi Outbacks, and TGI's and any restaurant that ends with the word "hut" or "shack"or "garden....but i stand up for all those that love the feeling of rampant cholestorol flowing through our system. ...I live in Massachusetts, and we have no such place where the health and welfare of the customer comes absolutely last on the list of priorities.....give me the waffle house now and forever!!!!!!!!!!!:jester: :jester: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :p

Steak and Shake - they don't take credit cards so this might be a problem for some.
Actually the whole chain just switched to now accepting credit cards.

I really like their hamburgers (steakburgers). I'm basically a meat and potatoes person so don't really care for anything too fancy.

I also like good spaghetti and like Macaroni Grill and Carrabas. Now if I could only find a Spaghetti Warehouse or a Spaghetti Factory restaurant.

:bounce:

My wife and I found a great little Italain restaurant located in Down Town Orlando. It is called Bravissimo - 407-898-7333. It is located in a residential area. They converted a small home into a restaurant. Everything they make is homemade. Very inexpensive. Casual dress. We make it a point to go there every time we are in Orlando.

Since we became DVC'ers we tend to spend less time in the parks and more relaxing and enjoying the area. We especially love finding new places to dine. We love going to Celebration, several restaurants and the town is interesting to see.

But we go to Orlando Alehouse nearly every trip. Service has been getting slower and slower there, but the zingers keep us coming back. Sonny's is another good choice. Shells is the best deal in seafood anywhere! Look out for there $11.99 lobster special - 1 to 1.5 lbs. and perfectly steamed. Generally, we avoid anything we can get at home, but sometimes we'll go to Macaroni grill. Chevy's was terrible. Pebbles is terrific if you're looking for a casual upscale dining experience. We pick a new onsite fine dining choice each time we go. Spoodles was our last choice and it was great!

We have found that we enjoy eating off property more and more often now. After being DVC members for 10+ years and annual trips to WDW for years prior to that, there are very few 'must do' restaurants on the property now, considering the quality of food in some of them and the price. :( Lately we have been going to The Crab House which is very close to DTD as well as Bahama Breeze. We have also enjoyed Fish Bones on Sand Lake Road. My wife really likes Tony Roma's so we tend to go there when we can, although I will say on our last trip, this last summer it wasn't all that good. Not bad enough to not go again, we just chalked it up to a bad night. We also discovered Carrabas on a recent trip and rather enjoyed that as well. I tend to try and avoid restaurants that I can go to at home. I want to do things special on vacation.

HOOTERS---The wings are the best and you can watch as many sports on the TVs they have that you can follow at one time.

It don't get much better than that.

Oh, and the scenery ain't bad either!

For the gearhead in the family you can't beat Race Rock, which is owned by some famous drivers from several race groips (NHRA, NASCAR) with a whole slew of race memorabilia on display. Right on International.

... on International Dr. It offers an eclectic menu of appetizer sized portions. You order 4 or 5 items, share with your group, order a few more. The place is decorated by budding artist. Neat place to eat.

I also also go to an online auction site- www.ibidusa.com - where you purchase gift certs for various resteraunts,ie pay $35.00 for a $50.00 gift cert. I've saved tons on the site.

We've eaten at many previously mentioned, Pebbles, Macaroni Grille, TGIF, etc. Since we do not have any Korean restaurants in our area, we decided to check out one in Orlando. We checked out the Foodie Award winners and selected a restaurant. It was a drive...rush hour on I-4! But it was a fun adventure and we enjoyed doing something different.

I-Drive at "POINT" orlando lower level is Dan Marino's Town Tavern "great bonless wings" Big screen TV's very nice place.
Also Houlihans on I-Drive.

Church Street Station had great food and entertainment but I think it is closed now but not sure.

D'Antonios in Celebration. Wonderful lasagna and all other Italian dishes. Just keep going to the end of World Drive and take a left at the wall with the Celebartion Sign and you'll be in Celebration.
And, for a large and delicious home made dessert, or lunch sandwich -- Market Street Cafe, also in Celebration. Then stroll across the street to Lakeside Park and sit in the rocking chairs and relax.
