Where can you fly a KITE at the Fort?

Hello Everyone! I am new to posting but am an accomplished "lurker". Thanks to all the VERY helpful folks on this board. Thanks to you all my trip is planned out! We are going to the Fort on March 9th-15th!! Can't wait!

Anyway - we have a pretty, nice new kite and I wanted to know if there are any open areas to fly it? Is it windy enough down there?

Hello and Welcome!!!

I would say that down by the lake on the beach would be a good place to fly a kite. You can walk down the beach a little so you are away from the crowds and have a more open area. It should be a little more windy down by the water.

There are several open areas scattered throughout the campground worthy of kite flying....as well as the beach. As far as wind...well, depends on the weather.

We also agree with BDRog , there are lots of great places to kite fly,,,I am one that truly enjoys fly;n kites , and it does all depend on the weather. Along the canals can be nice if the wind is right.Mr.

IIRC there is a fairly large open area in the Meadows Complex between the swimming pool and the tennis courts along the canal. The beach would be good if the wind is right. Been a while since I was past the group camping area, but that might also be a possible location.

There is also a large field near the 300 loop that you would be able to fly a kite at, although I think the Meadow Trading Post fields would probably be your best bet. Or the beach, but only if the wind is blowing towards the water. Definitely quite a few places though!

Oh, and you also would have a better chance of some nice wind at the beach, compared to the other areas cause they are surrounded by trees.

We have some big Deltas and also a stunt kite -- never been enough wind to fly them at WDW.
