Where can my child eat (fill in the blank)?

I'll speak up and say thanks everyone for posting any information that you think is up to date and helpful. People are helping the best that they can. Why does a thread where info is given out to help people, have to end up as a place where A FEW PEOPLE have to start a fight? I can't read a children's dining thread without listening to people attack each other. I really want the food assistance so please don't tell me not to read. When one thread gets shut down BECAUSE OF YOU you come onto another thread and start it up again. PLEASE STOP. THANK YOU.

To be fair, it's really only one person! :rolleyes1

And I agree...fantastic thread! Keep 'em coming!

We just got back last night. Overall, kids dining was okay. We ate TS at WCC, PTC, Le Cellier, Spoodles, Cape May and CP. I think they have all been covered in this thread but I wanted to add a few points.

Le Cellier - the kids steak is an upcharge of $2.00. It was what my kids wanted so we paid it but we found the charge irritating. The Chocolate Moose kids dessert was also an upcharge of $2.00. Tasty and cute, but also irritating.

PTC - this was the only kids meal that was bad. DS5 ordered the grilled chicken strips and pasta with tomato sauce. The chicken was cold but the seasoning was okay (he ate about half of it) but the pasta truly tasted like cardboard. The tomato sauce had no flavor whatsoever - we all tried it. We were in a hurry to get to Fantasmic so we did not ask for another meal - he just ate off of our plates. As an aside, he had pasta with tomato sauce at Spoodles as well. It looked the same but tasted much better! I think the problem we had at PTC might have been more restaurant related than menu related.

Counter service - for those worried about the sugar free jello issue, fear not! At every counter service we were allowed to choose an adult dessert to substitute. It was never a problem, the CM's were great about it!

It was I, and I feel I have a right to make my views known. But you notice I'm keeping out of this thread, which I think is quite helpful for all of us with concerns about the menu.

I don't mind an upcharge for a few items on a menu. It is a nice compromise if it helps to keep the price for the childrens plan lower. The choice is then left to parents if they want to pay extra o stey within the offered selections. I would not mind a surcharge for some selections on the adults plan either if it helped to keep the variety open for each restaurant.

I truly appreciate the information that is posted here about the recently changing of the children's menus. We have an upcoming trip to WDW and have a DD that is not only a picky eater but has severe food allergies as well. This really helps me plan some restaurants that will fit well for all of us in our family. THANK YOU!!!! to those of you who have taken the time to help others out. I'm sorry the CMs are bearing the brunt of the dissatisfaction. They are not the ones who implement the menus, they are just the ones who are doing their jobs. We will be there with smiles on, even if we don't care for some of the menu selections! :)

I'd much, much rather have an upcharge than have the menu item removed! Paying the extra wouldn't bother me if that's what the kids wanted.

I for one am so very glad to see the new changes in the kids menus! We were in WDW Oct 19-27 which was just after the start of the first "new" kids menus and we all thought they were really bad. I flat out asked the waitress at Sci-Fi if my DD could have french fries with her burger instead of the apples and she said "no". When I asked why, she just sighed and asked if I wanted to talk to a manger. I didn't, and asked her if people were complaining about the new kids menus and she said "you have no idea." I felt pretty bad for her. DH asked the waiter at Brown Derby if a lot of kids order the Just Dip It and he laughed and said "shockingly not that many kids want raw vegetables for dinner."

The new, new kids menus (if that makes any sense) that came out in Dec seem to be the perfect balance of kid favorites and a couple healthy options. I am very happy with the changes. :)

Bumping and adding that as of January 1st, the Disney computers will know the difference between adult and child credits on the dining plan. No more grown up options for kids unless you pay OOP or lose grown up credits for them.

Wow. It seems as though this will put even more pressure on the kids menus to be something everyone can eat, since a lot of parents who use the DDP seemed to be ordering off the adult menus for their kids.

Which was never actually "legal" and was taking advantage of the system. An adult CS meal with drink, entree, and dessert would be about $13 retail, which is more than the cost of a child's plan. Do you really think that Disney intended to give your child a table service meal and a snack for free? Yes, there is supposed to be a savings, but........

Buffalogal, thank you for your updates in the childrens plan. You have taken a lot of the confusion and the anxiety away from those of us who enjoy the convenience of the DDP but wnat our kids to enjoy their meals as well. IMO, the more clarity the better for all of us.

You mentioned an upcharge for steak and chocolate moose at Le Cellier - is that for DDP users? That makes sense, my DS doesn't really like steak, but he loved the chocolate moose.

The grilled chicken strips were cold, bland, and yucky at Columbia Harbor House.

Thanks to OP and Buffalo Gal for trying to sort out confusion. Maybe this could be updated monthly and be made into a sticky. If no changes, just change the date. Ok, so what has really changed - does the computer really "know" Adult vs Child. We've had so much disinformation - I just want to know the truth. Also, would it be possible to get an updated list that merges both of the previous lists? Not saying it has to be done right away, but in the near fututre? Thanks to all for a nice, informative thread!!
