Or is it even possible? I'd heard early release is late November. I got an email from mousesavers with a link to amazon.com for 30% off. I ordered 2, 1 for myself and 1 for a friend who plans to go next year and thought this would be a great Christmas gift. The cost was $14.93 (or 14.82, I can't remember which as I don't have invoice with me now, but it was under $15 each). Anyway, when I finalized the sale, I got a notice that said it wouldn't be shipped until 1/23/06, which is a month after christmas!!! I can cancel the order before it ships if I find it elsewhere as I really want to give this as a gift for Christmas. Will the stores like Barnes & Noble have it before Christmas? Anywhere else to get a copy now instead of 2 months from now? Or am I too late? Also, where have you found it the cheapest? Thanks.

I got my at Border's, which is basically the same as Barnes and Noble; the release date is November 29, but it depends on whether or not they order it (sometimes they wait until the 2005 copies sell out).
You can usually special order it. I'm not sure if you pay a fee at the abovementioned bookstores, but I usually order through Books a Million. You need to have the ISBN number (it is listed in Amazon.com), and they order it for me and call me when it it in. I did that to get the Unofficial Guide, and it took about 10 days. I'm also planning to do the same with Passporter 2006, just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Go Directly To There Web Site Passporter.com

According to their website the publishing date is Nov. 29th. And you can preorder from them. Amazon and Barnes and Nobles will get it two to three weeks later.

Ok thanks. I will do that. Is there a way to get 30% off on Passporter's website? I did have a previous passporter that I registered, but I have absolutely no idea my registration info to get a better discount. How can I find it?

You can look up your passporter discount code if you go to the discount code page. It will ask you some personal info and then give you the code again. Also you get a discount just by ordering from the passporter site.

If you tell them you are leaving soon they will rush it to you. That's what they did for me. I gave them the date I was going and I had my refill for 2006 in no time at all. It is a great update.

I pre-ordered my 2006 Passporter a few weeks ago, and told them I would be leaving for my trip on December 3.

I received the 2006 Passporter last week.

I would try pre-ordering it now and see what happens.

Okay ... answer a question for the ignorant. Is a Passporter a type of Guide Book? If so, is it an "official" Disney one, or is it more "honest".

It is not an official guidebook, but it has the best maps I've ever seen. :goodvibes It's very comprehensive, with all the rides, attractions and restaurants, and other things you need to know. It has pockets for things you need to keep, places to write down info, etc. Next to the Unofficial Guide book, it is my second favorite. Haven't used it at WDW yet, but getting the new 2006 and will be bringing it with me. It's not quite as big or thick as UG, and things are broken down by park. It's a very good guidebook :earsboy: .
Don't like official guidebooks - it's always the company line...

Ok, thanks guys! I did find my coupon for 30% off on passporter's website for a return purchaser. I went ahead and ordered 2...total price was around $37. This was a little more expensive than the Amazon.com price of $29 for 2 books, probably because at amazon, shipping was free and there was no handling charge. The passporter website talks about delivery as soon as 11/29 arrives, but in order of orders, so I have no idea how far down I am on that list. I made a special note I want the books before christmas, so fingers crossed here!

Check Overstock.com. I always beat the 30% offered on the Passporter site there.
