Where can I find nice window valances?

Our style is French Country/Cottage and I'm having a hard time finding nice valances for our light blue (Sweet Blue by Behr to be exact) bathroom. I have no talent and can't make my own. Where did you find your valances? Or does anyone on the DIS make them?

I have had really, really good luck at JC Penney's. Most of the stores have a window dept, and those that don't still can get them thru the catalog. They are nice, heavy, lined valances...not the cheapos like at Walmart. And they have sales all the time.

That was the first place I thought of b/c I always remember my mom finding stuff there; however, when I looked online and most of it seemed older fashioned. Do you find more selection in-store?

I get mine made. It doesn't cost any more then buying a good quality one from a better store and they fit your windows and every fabric choice in the world is at your disposal. I actually had my kitchen window treatments made out of table cloths.

I have some other windows in the kitchen that have a straight valance on them but I don't have a picture of those (made out of the same material).

I live really close to the Sturbridge location of Country Curtains... they are pricey but they are beautiful. I will pop into their store every year or so just to look around.... they have such nice things!

I "ditto" Country Curtains.

I have curtains of theirs hanging on my windows that I have had for about 15 years. Belle Fleur in case anyone is wondering and I believe they are still in the catalog...they are a classic.

They were expensive to buy, but I have a HUGE bay window, plus 2 smaller double hung windows in my livinroom, so it was a lot of curtains. They are nice, lined, hold up well, I get them dry cleaned a couple of times per year, vacuum them on occasion....love them.

Expensive, but worth it.
