Where can I buy a *REAL* Louis Vuitton bag?

Again, I never said it made anyone INFERIOR, I have a problem with people pretending to be something that they're not. Trying to create an illusion that they have more money than they do.

BTW, this goes for people who cannot afford to pay their morgage, yet insist on leasing BMW's. People who overspend on their houses, and cannot afford to furnish the insides. They are all trying to convey a certain image that they can't afford, and that will probably put them into debt and get them into trouble.

I also can't stand people who dress identical to their friends, even if it's not their personality or their preferences. People who like a certain music that may match the way they look, just because they're afraid to be judged or because it's not the norm for how they "should" act.

I don't like when people try to portray something that they aren't. I guess you can say I dont' like fakeness, not just in the handbag world!

You know, you can disagree with me. You can call me a snob, you can think I'm superficial. But I like to think that I'm always honest, and if that means being attacked on a message board, oh well. Better than agreeing with everyone and not stating my true viewpoints.

Most of us don't.:thumbsup2

Just because someone buys a fake bag it doesn't mean they can't afford the real thing. Some people would rather spend their money on other things.

And again, I stated that I'm sure there are other motivations for buying fake bags.

But, like I said before, I have seen many people who buy fake and try to pass it off as real.

Meloneyb21, if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to PM me. This thread has gone so far off track, it'll never come back!

Oh, and for the record, I didn't by an LV to tell the world
"look at my logo... I'm rich."

I bought it because I always wanted one. Finally, at the age of 45, I could afford one and bought one. And I don't regret it either.

It's no different than someone driving an Escalade, a BMW, a Mercedes, a Lexus, etc.

We could afford the real thing. But for $1K, I'm getting Lasik, or plane tickets, or part of a cruise, not a purse. Purses aren't my priority. For me, it's just a souvenir from a deployment, something that all the guys bring home. In fact, it's a sign that your husband/boyfriend doesn't love you if he's been to that deployed locale and not brought you one, and DH is on his fourth trip there. ;)

Kate Spades were hugely popular when I was in college, and I knew a non-conformist who actually deliberately went out and bought a fake "Kade Spate" just to annoy all the conformists. :rotfl:

Not to mention the fact that every designer makes bags that aren't plastered with their monogram logo, even Louis Vuitton. People seem to think that the only bags they make are brown with LV's all over them.

Sorry. I agree with you. I should have added that I didn't buy a logo ONLY because they are so many fakes of them. I wish there weren't. And I would buy a LV any day as every season I fall in love with one or two.

How fun lol!

Purses aren't a priority to some, I understand that. But to some, they are! It's a collection.

I don't see why it's fine to accept not wanting to spend money on those things, but when someone does, it's materialitic, superficial, etc.

I will never for the life of me get pin trading, and I've seen many people at WDW who have more money racked up in pins than I do with 20 designer handbags.

Yes, LV has many eclectic bags. I meant that unfortunately the fakes are mostly the ones with the logo patterns. Some of the LV logo bags are awesome and I would buy one if I didn't see the same bag everywhere.

Oh, I totally agree. I didnt buy my first LV until August of this past year, part of the reason was because they are SO faked.

Then I decided my collection felt naked without it, and gave into temptation, lol.

Oh, I don't think it's materialistic or anything. I honestly don't care which purse you or anyone else carries. ;) I'm just saying, some of the people (most of the people I know) aren't getting fakes because they can't afford the real thing. They just choose to spend the money on other things - just like you choose to spend your money on purses.

If he brings me back an LV, I'll PM you a picture and you can tell me everything that makes it fake. ;) I actually asked him to look for a red satin-y looking one, not the typical brown leather monogram.

When I bought my LV, I chose a style that I wasn't seeing all over town. Most of the fakes are the same styles you see over and over again like the Speedy, the Papillon, the Alma, & Cabas Mezza and Piano.

I've never seen anyone else with the Drouot around here, and I'm glad!

Do any of you have the LV large lucille? I love it but the last time I was in the LV boutique I couldn't make myself pay $900 for it.

I only have the one Drouot, and it's gone up $95 in price since I bought it in December 2005! Who says these things don't hold their value!

LV is constantly increasing their prices!

I have the papillion, faked often, but I loved the shape. It's unlike any other handbag I currently have, shape wise. It also fits a ridiculous amount of things.

Which is a shame, because I have never found a designer that knows how to make a fabric bag that holds it's shape like Kate Spade. Those "conformists" ended up with a great quality bag that is relatively inexpensive.

Blondie, do you have a picture? I'm not familiar with the Drouot.

Sure do, here ya go! It measures 9 x 9 and I wear it across my body as opposed to over my shoulder. It's not too big and it's not too small, it's just right.
