Where can I buy a *REAL* Louis Vuitton bag?

I'm not much of a LV gal. I don't like the monogram at all and that's usually what the diehard LV'ers get around here. I would buy a Vivienne though. And I do like the Passy styles.

I would love a red crocodile birkin

I used to love LV, but now I'm a Coach gal. I try to match my bag with my outfit and occasion even it doesn't always work out that way. lol

I can relate to what Evil Princess was saying about how where she lived on LI people just know. It's like that with lots of people I know in Hawaii who are fashionistas. Lots of Japanese tourists also love their Hermes and LV and they can tell what is real and what is fake. That is just how it is.

OK...how about this one (I hope I don't get in trouble for this).

I bought my LV from a barber (his back room) in Lakewood, Oh. He had leather jackets, fake Rolex etc. (if you know what I mean, the stuff fell off of a truck stuff). I bought a LV sac plat for $50 (thought it was fake). Hey that was 18 1/2 years ago !! Well guess what , I found it it was REAL !!! That purse lasted 18 years.

I used to feel funny about it...I love the bag...do people really think I'd be stupid enough to spend that kind of money on a purse? Well, after so many years of good service...I'm trying to talk my husband into buying me a new one ($800 ouch). But I did the math $44 a month. Sounds worth it to me.

BTW-a lady in OH just got busted for selling knock-offs. I wish I had her number!!!:rotfl2:

I tend to have more Coach than anything else. While I like Coach, it is because I worked there and got a 50% discount, I believe. A few times a year when they change seasons the discount is jacked up to 65%, and yes, there is a limit for how much we can buy depending on if you're full or part time. I also seem to have good luck with the outlets.

Burberry and my random Prada that I bought solely for the color. I wear alot of pink, lol. I went through a Burberry obsession about 4 years ago.

Christian Dior...don't mind the shades, I got them the same day.

Weird pic of the Gucci, I don't know why it's purpleish.

Missing from the lineup is my Kate Spade, which my younger sister now has custody of back in New York. ;) Also a Coach winter white leather hobo that I never got around to taking a picture of, since I got it right as I was moving from Orlando back home in January.

Speaking of which, if anyone is ever in Orlando (ha, ha) check out the Premium Outlets right by Dolly Partens Dixie Stampede. If you hit them right, the sales are AMAZING. The white hobo I was talking about was marked down almost 300 dollars.

Okay, I've been reading this thread from day one and I've finally decided to post. First I don't own any designer bags but I would love to! I've received a very good education into buying one so thanks to everyone for that. I think I'm leaning more towards the Coach bags at this point.

Evil Princess...thanks for sharing the pics. I love the Coach and Burberry and of course the Chanel glasses!

I can't believe this thread is still going!

EP--you have quite a collection there! I have to admit though, my LV purchase was a bit of a splurge and I really can't justify buying another, though I'd love to have a Speedy, I just don't see it happening. It was like a one time event for me. So when I read negative comments on buying an LV and how it screams "look at me, I'm rich", I really take it to heart. I bought it because I really liked it and wanted one since the first time I saw one, not because I wanted people to think I'm rich. Owning an LV, doesn't mean someone is wealthy, it means they appreciate a nice bag and aren't afraid to spend a little extra money to own one. Out of all the LV's available, I went with the monogram canvas because it never goes out of style and isn't as trendy as some of the other colors and styles. The monogram LV is a classic. It'll always be a favorite for many.

I do have a few D&B's, but I don't consider them in the same class as an LV, as LV isn't in the same class as a Hermes. (I'm talking purses here, not the people who own/carry them!)

Since I'm probably old enough to be your mother, back when I was your age (mid-1980's), Liz Claibornes were all the rage and I had quite a few, but they weren't nearly as expensive as Coach & D&B purses today. When I think about how purses have become such a hot item over the years, it's almost ridiculous! But I'm drawn right into it too!

My new obsession is Vera Bradleys. Thank goodness they're not nearly as expensive as an LV!

Oh wow!! That's quite a collection, I love them all. I really want the Coach in black that you have. I think that's the one i'll splurge on next.

I would love to own a Burberry but I've yet to find one I like under $1000. Do you own some of the clothing items as well? I'd find it hard to match their handbags.

The LV papillon is really cute too. Did you get a discount on it or did you have to pay full price? :scared:

I like it, plenty of colors to go with everything! I have a small multi-colored scribble from two years ago, basically it's my default bag for when I'm wearing a color that I don't wear often, I kind of love to match my handbags to my outfits.

I have the same bag in silver and white :)

I bought mine in the multicolor solely because it goes with many different outfits.

I love your silver and white one, it's very nice!:goodvibes

Blondie, we must be about the same age! I too remember the Liz Claibornes, back then they seemed like a splurge to us! I also had the original Bermuda bags, the ones with the changeable button on covers. How I ever managed to get even a wallet in there amazes me. I wish I still had my frame because I see that Lilly Pulitzer is now doing the covers again. My 11 year old would love them, although she takes my Vera Bradleys now. I purchased a new one last week in the Peacock pattern and she swiped it as soon as we walked in the door! I can see it now!

EP, it's funny, the girls her age (6th grade) are really into brands and labels now, much more than we were when I was a preteen. Was it that way when you were that age? I watched her get out of our car the other morning and realized that almost every girl there had on the same ensemble: North Face jacket, Birkenstock clogs and Vera Bradley handbag (she also was carrying the lunch bag and has her student ID in the badge holder around her neck :lmao: ) No individuality. The girls also get mad if another one "horns in" on their VB pattern. DD was the first with the peacock pattern, now two of her friends have copied it!

good luck ever trying to find a discount on an LV, it's ridiculous.

I usually wear my Burberry with a white skirt and black top, or jeans or a white or black tee. I do have plenty to match. There are PLENTY of Burberry bags that are under 1,000, none of mine were near that amount. I did buy them a few years ago, but still.

I used to be a little obsesed with it, but have since ceased that habit for the most part. And no, I never wear it all together! I do have earmuffs, which look kind of crazy while I wear my scarf.

Oh yes, and it's worse now than when I was that age. Kate Spade was our obsession, and then Coach. Everyone wore Juicy tee shirts, before they even made the sweats. Tiffanys was just becoming very popular with the heart tag bracelet.

I think it started to get bad with my generation.

Wow, flip flops to match.:cloud9:

I've got flip flop issues. If you only knew...lol. Luckily flip flops (besides Burberry) are very cheap!

Oh me too, I have every color from Old Navy (their only $2.50:banana: ) and occasionally splurge on different styles. How much were your Burberry flip flops, if you don't mind me asking. I would love to own a pair.

I don't remember, they're like 3 years old, and quite frankly, not of the best quality. I prefer Old Navy! lol. Burberry should stick to handbags and not flip flops. Coach flip flops are made much better.

Did you guys watch GMA today they had a segment about fake handbags and Robin couldnt tell which one was the real LV.

I can tell fake LV's but not any other brand. I just don't know enough about them.
If I get a chance tonight I will post a couple pics of my Murakami cherry bags....LOVE them.

I also love Vera Bradley....:rotfl:

Ohhh Murakami, post em!

There was a Murakami exhibit at the MFA, we went during class a couple of years ago. My professor asked us if anyone had heard of him, and I said yes, that he was a Japanese pop artist. When he asked me how I knew that, I had to make up some lame excuse about the internet, not that I knew the answer because he helped design limited edition Louis Vuitton bags! lol

I hope this works:
2039100_0863-med.jpg

the small purse on the right is the "Murakami Cherry Blossom" it was the first Marc Jacobs/Murakami designed bag. I wish I had bought the papillion too. then the tiny wallet is the next step "Murakami Mulitcolor" in black...this was before Multicolor was added as a regular line
the other small bag with 2 cherries on it goes with the purse...which is "Cherries" 3rd in the line of MJ/Murakami
Then the large wallet is the new "Groom" series based on original advertising art that LV used in the 1900's.

these are all limited edition bags and can not be bought, except on Ebay....and the Groom is new so its still in stores.

These are just my limited edition bags that I love. sorry about the pic..I am not the best with the dig camera.
