I don't agree with the poster who said that its a waste for Indy.

FWIW, I didn't say it was useless. I said "Indy FP is helpful, but not as helpful as one thinks."

It has disappointed me each time I've been on it that the FP (and babyswap) line links up with the regular line with so much line beyond it.

I sort of agree with this. For Indy it depends on how much line there is outside. Sometimes there are a lot of people in line and FP is well worth it.

Some FP rides take you literally up to the front while others merge farther back. Splash Mtn, BTMRR and BLAB are pretty good at getting you near the front. Indy and Space Mtn merge further back and you still need to wait for at least 10-15 minutes once they take your FPs.

Autopia is the worst in my experience, with waits of up to 25 minutes with FPs. For RR you never really merge but just get right onto a vehicle.

Over at DCA GRR gets you close to the front, while ToT is like Indy. You get into the pre-show room pretty quickly but usually there is a 10+ minute line between the pre-show and the elevators.

SoC is also like Indy that you usually still have a bit of a wait once you use your FPs and merge into the standby further back, while with CS you get close to the front and never actually merge with the standby line.

Yes you do. They stop the stand-by line right before the stairs and allow FP holders to merge in. Maybe they use one side of the stairs for FP sometimes, but when I went they were sending both FP and stand-by guests into both sides of the stairs. Did you mean Mulholland Madness? That one doesn't merge.

Maybe they have different strategies at CS. Every time I have used FP there over the last three years (maybe 10 times?) they have never merged the FP line. The FP line just proceeded in its own path and then two lines came down the stairs - standby and FP - separated by a rail. Once at the bottom of the stairs the CMs would choose people from both lines - standby and FP - and assign them to spots for the ride. I do not go to DLR all that often so maybe they do it differently on some days.
