Where Are Your Favorite Places To Dine, And To Snack At Dl. And At DCA?

Yummy, more great additions, and I am really glad that you posted PrettyPrincessBelle! It is always nice to read, what people really like. :)

I am so glad you found this thread and posted on it! You have a lot of great ideas!

Thank you!!!:goodvibes

We got lucky when we ate at Wine Country Trattoria last year in December (weekend before Christmas). There was nobody there and we got seated right away, and they gave us Dreams pins when they saw our b-day buttons. Great meatball sandwiches there, too!

How neat about the dream pins! That's so nice of them since they say it was your birthday!! I love meatball sandwiches, I need to try those next!!

With Carnation, however, there is always a hideous wait no matter what meal we have gone there for or what time of day - we have done all three meals there as well as a separate "dessert meal visit", and the line is always bad because the seating is limited. The only thing that saves some time for us is that often, there are larger groups of 5 or 6 people in front of us, and we may have only 2 or 3 folks, so if they have a table that opens up that can only seat two or three, then we get seated before the group of five or six who have been waiting longer! But that is just sheer luck. I actually think that, of all the restaurants we have eaten at, Carnation is the one where we need the PS the MOST, with Goofy's a close second. But we love Carnation so if we have to do a PS to make sure our wait is short, then so be it. I know my friends don't like the idea of me calling for PS because they like to be spontaneous about where we eat, depending on our moods, and they don't like to be locked into a time for eating. They would rather we wait until we KNOW we are hungry rather than eat at a designated time. But when we end up standing in line for 45 minutes just to get a table, they start to see the light about the PS!

We always eat there for breakfast (for some reason we've never eaten there for lunch) and usually the line is always long, with our PS's I think the longest we've ever waited is maybe 10 minutes tops. I always see a lot of people pretty upset that the line is long.

We're the same way about eating spontaneously, but what we do it make our PS's ahead of time for when we *think* we'll be hungry and for some reason if we're running late or just not hungry we just call them and cancel or reschedule. I think you have 45 minutes? It always works for us!

Carnation used to have more seating. There was the outdoor area, as there is now, and a whole indoor portion which now belongs to another place. It was so much better then, and the lines were not as bad. Plus, and I could be mistaken about this, I THINK the menu was a little more extensive when the whole restaurant was bigger. I remember more entrees and dessert options on it. It is like they downsized the menu when they downsized the restaurant! Last December was the first breakfast I had eaten there. Usually, we do dinner and lunch. Last December was also when we did a dessert-only sampler meal, where three of us ordered three desserts and we all sampled each of them. I liked the idea of getting just dessert and coffee there. I liked the breakfast but the service was bad on the day we were there and the waitress was not on her game! I tend to favor the breakfast buffets a little more than menu orders. But when you are starving and haven't eaten all day, nothing will fill the hole in your tummy for dinner or lunch better than the Carnation meat loaf stack! That is comfort food to the 100th power!

Just still a lookin' for new posts, don't care if you have posted before, please post again, if you would like to. :)

Now you mean to tell me, I have heard from everyone? ........... hmmm, ;)

Our favorite snack is the Dole Whip Float at the Tiki Room. If there is a really long wait outside of the Tiki Room, we enter the waiting area and buy them from inside (often less of a wait).

We actually really enjoy Pizza Port in Tomorrowland. Our favorite entree there is the chicken fusilli. Of course the Blue Bayou is a favorite too.

I love pizza, I may have to give it a try :) thank you for your additions, very tasty indeedy! ;)

Actually forgot to say, that I very much like the popcorn at Dl, last year, I purchased the fun commemorative pop corn bucket for the 40th anniversary for POTC, and I had a good time munching upon the golden fluffiness of buttery delight, as I sat at NOS, people watching, and just enjoying the square and the nice blue sky above :)

we enjoyed the bucket of popcorn while waiting for Fantasmic to start. popcorn::

My favorite place to eat in DL is the Blue Bayou... mainly because of it's nostalgic connection to VMK!

I've liked Bengal BBQ in the past but didn't care for it this time. Tigger tails were dry/burnt/over airy tasting (need softness/thickness, bulk, and butter.)

Next visit ... if I can ever do a multi-day (I usually only get to day trip) I would definitely try a breakfast somewhere.

The turkey leg is VERY filling/satisfying.

Just discovered dole whips... LOVE THEM! :lovestruc

Didn't care for the EXTRA HUGE chocolate rice crispy treats in Pooh's Corner. Didn't care for the cinnamon roll from Main Street Bakery. It had a maple syrup strand-y type of stuff on the pecan one and the frosted one was too rich.

The ice cream parlor on main street served a LARGE portion for the price.. and it was really cute inside.

I want to try a chimichanga cart!

Frozen lemonade's (my fav is strawberry) at DCA were VERY, VERY refreshing on a hot day. Also, the margarita with an extra shot was nice!

That's all I can think of right now!

A new must have snack we discovered this trip is the peanut brittle sold in the shops on main street. We got ours from Market House. DH wanted to get it and I was indifferent until I tasted it. I kept taking more more and more pieces. Yummy! :cloud9:

Thank you, for the new posts, I love peanut brittle too Pinkbudgie, I don't believe that I have had any at DL, yet.... :)

TravelMel, Thank you for the picture, and I was wondering why you did not care for the chocolate rice crispy treat? I have not tried any of those yet, at DL,but if they don't taste as good as they look, I might not try it, until someone buys me one ;)
I figure surely they taste just as good as if you made it yourself? but then, maybe not, because there could always be one or more ingredients that one would not include into their own recipe.

:flower3:

I think they probably use like... who knows.. high fructose corn syrup and vegetable oils and who knows what else.. or maybe they don't.. :confused3

But whatever they do they're just over-done..they taste synthetic. Don't get me wrong.. we atd 'em! :lmao: They were so big I socked the rest away in my pocket and ate it later!

We had something else from Pooh's Corner.. I can't remember what though! I have to go scour the Dis-boards for an upclose pic of the display case!!

Love this thread :)

Ahh, thank you, I like to see it alive and kicking :) and thank you for your reply.

No, your signature is not too big in my opinion. Matter of fact, I quite like it! :)

This is especially funny, I love it! :)
Last DL trip: 7/08. Crazy DH said flippantly, "let's go to Disneyland." Unfortunately for him, I always act on flippancy!

he he! I wonder when he might say that again?
I will check out your trip report, I sometimes like to read such. Yours sounds to be very interesting, humorous, and maybe even a bit hectic too, like any trip planning, and doing can become at times.

So should I try the Mickey shaped rice krispie treat? or again, wait until someone buys me one! ;) seriously......... :)

My favorite thing there is the Hot-Link corn dog from the Corn Dog Castle in DCA. I have to wait until October, but it'll be worth it!
