Where are you vacationing this year "non disney"

We are going to Washington DC this year and WDW next year.

Williamsburg VA and VA Beach 3rd week in July. My DD will be 13 while we are away so she asked to be at the Beach for her 13th b-day. We will stop to visit my DH Brother in MD on the way back overnight. Last year we spent my DS's 9th BDay in Disneyworld. Would love to go back but can't afford it at this time. We are using inlaw's timeshare in Williamsburg and it has a full kitchen so we will be saving some money there. I am getting some gift cards from work to pay for some nice dinners out while we are away. It should be alot of fun.

There are some aesome vacations on this thread! :thumbsup2

I am not sure about Disney this year, but its probably a no.

We are definately planning to go to DC for a long weekend this year, not sure when. We live 20 minutes from "the shore" in NJ so lots of beach days over the summer. We would like to do one other long weekend getaway, but note sure what. Hubby would like to go to Williamsburg. :confused3

I was planning disney for this year (my twins are 9 so I was hoping to go & get the 10 day non expiring pass), but now I am thinking of waiting another year or so until Legoland opens. My girls want to go to Disney, but my sone & DH don't really want to go back yet.

Though I would love to go to Orlando & do a Universal/SeaWorld trip too....

We are heading to North Conway NH. There is a theme park there called 'Storyland.' It is supposed to be great for little one's. The price is great too, 27 dollars per day!
We will likely explore around Portland and Bangor too.

We are also going to North Conway, NH! We did 2 nights last year and DD loved Storyland SO much we are going back, staying in North Conway from Sun-Fri. Storyland has free parking, cheap food and it so cute and clean! Plus if you go after 3pm, then you get free another day so you can actually go 1.5 days for the price of one. We are also doing Santa's Village and DH wants to go on an Alpine Slide.

Another DIS'er shared this a few months ago for savings. It is $25 and gets a child in for free. Money goes to a good cause and there are a ton of other things to save on. I live near Davis Farmland which is expensive and we will probably check out Water Country, so a good deal for us!

I still need to call and make sure you can do the after 3pm deal with this.

We are going to Hawaii for 2 weeks. this summer. We have never been and I am so excited.

right now, i'm sitting in Texas on vacation. :) We've been to Long Beach, CA in March and are doing 2 wks in Chautauqua NY in July with a day trip to Niagara Falls (thanks for reminding me to book it!) then I'm going to Asheville NC (the Biltmore also) in August with my gf. DH and I are going to Italy for 2 wks in January.

It's good to be the fat girl today. :cool1:

We don't vacation during the school year, but the summer starts with a week at Disney and ends with a week at Lake George, NY (with extended family). In between is spent at the beach ("the shore" as a PP said) as we live about 20 minutes away as well and we belong to the a beach club.

You are going to LOVE Hawaii!! We went 2 summers ago and had a wonderful time - can't wait to go back, one day...

We went to the Grand Canyon and DL over spring break.
Doing a week in the OBX with friends in the summer

WE are going to try Dolly Wood in TN in June??

We went over spring break and had a wonderful time! We had so much fun we are going to try to ge in another trip at the end of the year! A season pass was the same price as one day at WDW!

We're doing a one week trip to South Carolina to see family/attend my nephew's graduation in June. Other than that we'll probably do a few weekend camping trips locally.

Our 1st family WDW trip is in the fall so that makes two big trips for us when we generally don't take any big vacations.

Since money is tight this year, we just hope to spend a long weekend at Six Flags Maryland to see the new Thomas part (we have a 2.5 year old, who eats, breathes and lives for Thomas!!). I'm saving for a nice Disney vacation in 2012.

We just got back from two weeks in China for Spring Break. We have a big Yellowstone trip planned for this summer plus a couple long weekends at the lake. Thinking San Diego for the fall.

I agree! Hawaii is wonderful! We've been 3 times, including a month long vacation in 2005 there. We are headed back next May for 2 1/2 weeks.

We are going to Vegas in November.

That's all we have planned for now.

Great thread with a bunch of great ideas. Vacation planning is my de-stress tool of choice. Right now i am working on thoughts for later this year through summer of 2011 and you guys have given me some more places to consider! This July we are going to take a Baltic Cruise on Celebrity. Really looking forward to seeing St. Petersburg, Russia among some other great places.

On the radar screen:

1. I really really want to go so the Harry Potter stuff at Universal. My son and I have both read the full series and he is now 11 so perfect age. I was hoping for New Jersey week in November, but he is switching schools and I don't think he is going to have the time off. Maybe Easter of 2011?

2. Alaska? - I was really into this idea but the cost to really do it "right" is much higher than I initially thought so we a probably going to put this off a few years.

3. New England/Canada - my son really wants to see Boston. He has been studying the American Revolution and Colonial America this year. My husband wants to go to Nova Scotia. I am playing around with a driving tour of New England and Canada in July 2011.

4. Bermuda. We enjoy cruising and there are now a number of cruises that leave from NJ or Baltimore which would save us on airfare.

So many ideas, so little time and money!!

We are driving from Minnesota to New Mexico, so we'll see the sights along the way (South Dakota, Colorado - DH really wants to go to the Fat Tire brewery.

If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Fat Tire is fun! Check out the city of Ft. Collins while you're there - a great college town. You can hit Rocky Mnt. National Park on your way south, too. It's an easy drive from the Fort to Estes Park, then you can take Hwy. 36 back to Boulder - another great college town. Run 36 back to Denver where there's loads to do, and then catch I-25 back south to NM.

We're heading to Yellowstone over Memorial Day weekend, but will visit WDW in the autumn.

Sounds like all of you have fun things to do!

Lake Michigan shore, coastal Maine, and just got back from Las Vegas. Planning a week at Gulf Shores and a trip to Italy next year!

I agree! There are so many ideas on this board that I wish I could do everything (maybe if I hit the lottery....lol) We are looking at the Bermuda cruise out of Baltimore. Did you look at the New England/Canada cruise?? That may be worth it too!

This year, we've already book Dauphin Island, AL in July and Disney in September.

Next year we're skipping Disney :sad1: and going on an Alaskan land and cruise tour.
