Where are you going for "spring" break?

Nowhere. DS is active in college basketball, so we have zero plans for vacations at the moment. He is hoping to get into dorm-type housing (community college, but they have the sports players from out of the area/state in an apartment building across from the college) with some of the players. Keeping student loans down to the minimum means no vacations at the moment. And with DS unable to work due to basketball, essentially my paycheck will go towards his housing.

Pretty much by now, I would be feigning to get out of the area, but my desire to save $ for college outweighs vacation. DH, on the other hand, wants to get out of town. We may do a "staycation" of sorts this summer.

Too much up in the air right now. :) But it's all good! :)

Oh, I disagree. I decided not to work for 3 weeks in March, so I am getting a spring break because I made one!

Not sure where I'm going. I have a friend in NYC that I try to visit several times a year, and he's flying out to Oregon to stay with me. We'll take a road trip somewhere. I also rented a beach house for us and my adult kids for a long weekend. :)

That's great! I wish I had the option to take three weeks off, but I don't. Not quite five years now, though, and that will change. Of course, then there won't be any money to DO anything. :sad2:

Instead you get several weeks of vacation to take whenever you darn well please.

Disagree. When you work, you accrue vacation....you surely can make and take your own spring break. :)

It's just not the same, though, somehow. And you don't have to coordinate spring break with your boss, your co-workers, and HR (if you have those.) Of course it depends on where you work. The US isn't called the "No Vacation Nation" for nothing. It's downright disgusting how many jobs there are with no time off at all. I'm grateful for my four weeks. Thirty years in a job has a FEW perks, still.

Ds#1 spring break is different from #2 so not doing anything for his. Going camping for 3 days and four nights during #2 spring break. #1 doesn't have class on Friday so we plan on leaving Thursday when he gets out of class.

Our Spring break is officially the first week of March, but my daughter is leaving this weekend for her 2 week Europe Grad trip, so I didn't want to travel with her overseas. DH and I, and another couple booked Punta Cana for the 3rd Week of March, an adult only all inclusive. We typically cruise, but with our weak dollar, this is more budget friendly.

Not during the traditional Spring Break time, but we're planning to drive to Florida the last week of April. Probably no Disney/Universal this trip. Maybe a day at Sea World. The bulk of the time will be on the SW coast, Naples, Ft.Myers, Marco Island. Thinking about stopping in Charleston, SC, on the way there and Savannah, GA, on the way back, or vice versa. Two weeks total.

18 years and I have just shy of 7 weeks. It is frustrating that so many companies have such crappy vacation policies. I think liberal vacation policies make a better environment for all...makes the employees more productive!

I only have to coordinate with my boss. She has a big calendar in her office with everyone's time written on it. Open day/week...take it. If you are out of time, feel free to make up the time off by working extra hours the week preceding. I have never taken off more than 2 weeks at a time...but that has been without a hesitation from her. As long as my clients are notified in advance and my backup is brought up to speed, it's all mine :) I like it MORE than having a spring break...cuz I can use it whenever, ha ha!

I tell my kids ALL the time...get in with a good company doing something you love. A good company, who treats their employees well, is worth more than you can ever imagine!

Back to topic at hand - CANNOT WAIT to get some Key Lime Pie when in FL. I have been hardcore craving it for weeks now!

Driving from Virginia to Naples with the kids and the dogs to spend a week with my parents. I hate the drive but am looking forward to spending time with them and enjoying SW Florida. I just realized this morning that since Spring break is early this year Spring training is still going on so I'm hoping my dad will take my son to a few Twins games.

We have no kids, so I have no idea if it coincides with "spring break" dates, but my husband and I are going to Japan in about a month :o

I don't ever remember going anywhere during "spring break" when our kids were growing up. We usually vacationed with them in the summer, and without them in the winter. :)

DH and I just got back from a Florida trip, and just this morning booked another cruise for next January with our son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter and her boyfriend. Yesterday morning we had no plans to book another cruise anytime soon (our last one was last February, with the same family members minus the boyfriend - he couldn't get time off his new job) but they all want to cruise again and invited us to go along again, so how could we say no? And we'll be cruising out of New Orleans again. I was sick last time we cruised out of there (raw oysters) so couldn't fully enjoy our time there, so I'm looking forward to going back and doing some of the things we didn't get to do last time. We'll probably spend at least 2 nights there before getting on the cruise.

My parents are retired teachers. Back when we were kids, we'd stay with my aunt over Spring Break while Mom & Dad went fishing, usually in Texas.

After 12 years at this job, I get 3 weeks, 1 of which is mandated for the week between Christmas & New Years :(

I wanted to go to the Bahamas with 3 of my friends for Spring Break next month, but my parents won't let me and really the other girls parents won't either. We are going to Nashville, Tennessee instead.

My husband and I are going on a cruise to Aruba, Curaçao, and the Turks and Caicos with our youngest daughter, my parents and my sister. I teach, and it's technically not my spring break, it's my daughter's week. I got permission from our district to take the week off so I will actually have two spring breaks this year! The cruise, and then 2 weeks later a staycation for my spring break!

I have two nights reserved at Marriott Harbour Lake and might go down and do assorted non-theme park Orlando stuff.

However, I'm now sort of leaning towards a staycation--do local go carts, trampolines, mini golf, Dave and Busters, zoo, St Augustine stuff, maybe camp, eat junk food, drink (currently abstaining for Lent), etc...
