I will be staying in Disney the same week as the Marathon. Staying at CSR, and I was wondering if everyone stays at this resort because its a convention center or is it whereever and its not a group thing and they stay at varied resorts. TIA

We were there during marathon last year and they seemed to be staying everywhere! We stayed at Pop and lots of them were there. I also saw them getting on just about every type of resort bus - but they aren't rowdy or noisy like cheer groups! Mostly couples and families.

I agree with Lollipop's Mom. When we were there during Marathon 2006, it seemed they were staying everywhere. My sister has done the marathon for the past four years and she's stayed a different place every time and never yet at CSR.

From my experience, I would be more concerned about the proximity of your resort to the race course. We were at WL and I was woken up both mornings (of the half and full marathon) from the crowd noise along the route. I could hear cow bells being run and cheering, etc. It wasn't right outside the window or anything, but a constant noise in the distance, if that makes sense. Everyone else slept throught it but me, fortunately for them, unfortunately for me. ;)

We like to stay at OKW on Miller's Road so my husband and his running buddy can walk to the start line. Anything on the monorail is also good since you just hop the monorail and then head towards Epcot. The Epcot resorts require you to ride a bus to the start. POFQ might also be okay to walk to the start.

I hope some are staying at CSR. They're a great group of people, and so inspiring!

This is our first disney marathon and we decided to stay at CSR because we have not stayed there yet. It seems most experienced disney marathoners recommend staying at a monorail resort for ease getting to the race start at epcot. We are so excited!:goodvibes

DH has run the marathon for the past three years and we always opted to stay at a monorail resort. Twice we stayed at the GF, and once at the Poly.

One of the main reasons we stay at a monorail resort is that the kids and I like to take the monorail over to MK (very, very early) watch DH run through the MK, and then hop on the monorail over to EPCOT to watch the finish. When you are dragging three kids around that early in the morning the convenience of the monorail can't be beat!

We were not there for the marathon, but were at WDW during marathon weekend 2007, staying at CSR. Don't worry, there were TONS of marathoners staying there! It was fun to talk with them and find out what motivated their runs. A lot of them were with Team in Training (Leukemia ane Lymphoma Society), a cause which is close to my heart. It was great to see them afterward, too, walking all around the resort and parks wearing their medals. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Good luck and enjoy the experience!!

No matter where you stay, if you take a bus to the start, make sure your driver knows where he or she is going. Disney charters lots of buses for the marathon and some of the drivers don't have the faintest idea how to get to Epcot. If you have such a driver, just let them know as soon as possible that they are headed the wrong way and tell them the way to go.
