Where are all the Louisiana WDW lovers? UPDATED 1ST POST WITH DATES!

I'm almost scared to post, not knowing where in the thread it will wind up. :confused3

Thanksgiving is so nice because that's when the Christmas decorations start to go up and it's all so pretty. Are you flying?
We usually do for Thanksgiving, but this time, since it's summer and we can take our time, we are driving.
We will stop in Tallahassee Monday night and sleep and then we'll only have about 4-5 hours left to drive. We can check in about 3 and swim and our plan is to watch Epcot fireworks from the beach at the Swan. Hopefully we can see something from there, we'll see. We'll "hit" the parks on Wednesday.

Another small world story ~ I've been up here in BR since college in '83 and 2 weeks ago I ran into Ms. Magee - Blenk's chemistry teacher. She looks exactly the same, so pretty ! She's been up here for about 6 years. I couldn't believe it was her!!

How was your trip, SnowWhite607?
Everyone thinks we are crazy to go next week. They say the heat and crowds will be horrible. We're used to the heat, and I know it will be crowded, but lots of people are coming back saying it hasn't been too bad. What did you think?

OK, it put this post above what I was replying too. :badpc:

Honestly, I used Tour Guide Mike and touring plans dot com and they both told me what parks were supposed to be the least crowded that day. We had no trouble at al. The most crowded day was at HS and we waited MAX 20 minutes for anything. We FPed RnR and stood in line for about 15 min for ToT. We got there at park opening and left about 2pm to go back to the resort to rest and swim, then came back abut 5-6pm for dinner. That wasy we beat the heat.

My DH and I are teachers in Slidell so we always go in the summer time. This is our 4th year in a row and I think the crowds were less and honestly, the weather was not that horrible being from Louisiana.

I do know that the parks tend to get more crowded after July 4th. Last year we were there from July 12-19 and it was madness some days. This year we were there from June 15-26 and it was nice.

I hail from Lake Charles, planning a christmas vacation to the world as we speak actually :D

I am a teacher, too, so I know what you mean. I think we are prepared ~ mister fans, plenty of sunscreen, visors, water, etc. If it gets too hot we can go back and hang at the Swan and go back for some EMH when it's cooler. I'm so glad you had a good trip and the crowds weren't too bad. We will be there from July 2-7 at the parks. (arrive on the 1st, leave on the 8th)
I expect the 4th and the weekend will be wild ! I'm wondering if the high price of gas will keep some people away who were planning on a long weekend trip for the 4th. ;)

What are your dates for "Christmas"? I love the season there. The Christmas parade, the Christmas shows, the Christmas party, the festival of lights, it is all so beautiful. Where are you staying?:santa:

We live in Metairie and are going at xmas time. we love the world and have been there at least 75 times. I would love to meet any other disney fanatics

We're going the 23rd through the 30th and we're looking at staying at ASMo, but we haven't booked just yet and hopefully I can get something for a bit cheaper at another value when I call. We're going with a value to maximize our spending money. We're going with his whole family but DH and I are booking seperately and at a different hotel and different meal plan. Our birthdays are in December and so is our anniversary so it's basically going to be one huge celebration for us.
I'm kinda sad we'll be missing the party but we'll still get alot of those fun things.

Hey, LA people here! We were actually on our way home from WDW when this thread was originally posted, but I am only seeing it now.

I am headed back with dd and my mom for the Sept 1st special 5 day cruise, then we'll be at WDW from the 6-9.

Hi everybody!

It's the original poster here! I've been gone a while. I've gone back and updated the original post to include everybody's: 1) city; 2) where they are staying (if you listed); and 3) vacation dates (if you listed them).

If anybody wants to post their updated information, please do so and I'll go back through the list again.

For those who have already gone on your trip, how about posting trip reports, resort reports, pictures, etc.!!!!!!

I didn't even know this thread existed! I haven't read past the first post, but we are a family of four Disney World lovers from Ruston. Our last trip was last August. We have no plans of going this year :sad1: since we have two small summer vacations already planned, but we are going next summer (no dates yet).

My husband keeps trying to convince me that there are other places than Disney to vacation :confused3 - really? ;)

Our husband's must be related. :rotfl: But really, when we get to WDW, he is the worst one, a BIG kid, loving every minute.

Yeah, secretly THEY LOVE IT...but getting them to admit it...? Not gonna happen!

Somehow I've managed to get him to be more proactive in planning our 2009 trip. On his very own he was doing research on the DisneyWorld.com website and I caught him reading a Disboards.com thread! And I've tried to convince him that if he moves us much closer to Disney (ie, within 90 minutes of Disney World) we will definitely take more vacations elsewhere! Makes sense, doesn't it? ;)

Sounds logical to me ! :)
We leave tomorrow for a week at the Swan. I'm sure no one will sleep tonight.
My DS (9) pulled a muscle in his neck last night so we are trying to "heal" him quickly. I wish we could wrap them in bubble wrap to keep them healthy till we get there. Both of our kids have had perfect attendance at school for years, but when it comes to vacations, we seem to always have problems.

Awww, poor kid! Maybe some ibuprofen and a heating pad will fix him. I know if I were him the fact that I was going to Disney the next day would instantly fix me!

Y'all have a good time!

Thanks so much !!

Great minds think alike ~that's EXACTLY what we are doing ~heating pad/ibuprofen. It's working wonders !! :wizard: He's healing quickly. By the time we hit the parks on Wednesday, he'll be ready to geaux !!!!

I just switched all of my park and ADR plans for our trip in November based on TGM recommendations....now I know why we were so swamped when we went!!! I have the "crowd" mentality! was surprised how easy it was to change all the reservations and still got places and times I wanted!
