My son is a distance runner on his high school cross country and track team. He made it to states for the 2mile that was today. Went out too hard and had a poor race. Not advancing. I saw him for a minute at the track and he is miserable. He'll be home soon. I never know how to deal with my sons when they've had a bad sporting thing. He takes his running seriously and is trying to get into a college program. Doesn't want to talk about it. Hates to lose. Ya know the drill. Any tips.

I think all that you can really do is give him a {{{HUG}}} and be there to listen if he wants to talk. There really isn't a lot you can say that would make him feel any better right now.

I just hate to see him hurting. Most kids don't make it to states, and he has the whole spring track season ahead of him, and he's just a JR. He's not super talkative about things like this. I bought him a chocolate cake from trader joes. Junk food heals too.
