After we left Universal we made the long hot walk over to Islands Of Adventure.Logan did a quick costume change into the shirt made by disylou.
We headed straight to Suess Landing.
It was really cute with amazing theming. The bad part was there was virtually NO shade anywhere in this area.It was so bad that if we stopped anywhere Hannah would jump right out of her wheelchair and run for any spot of shade. We decided to do the Cat in the Hat ride since it was inside and air conditioned.Once again we were given a personal escort right to the front of the line.We found it did often take a few minutes for them to radio our escort but we didn't mind a bit.We often chatted with the CM's who were super freindly. The Cat in the Hat ride had a pressed penny machine right out front so we had to grab a few of those.
Once we exited the ride we saw these guys:
Yes, I know , those are not my children.
Hannah was so hot and tired at this point she really didn't want to even bother to go meet them.I had to take a picture because I am a big grinch fan and can recite the whole story. We headed out of Suess landing quickly. We all would have loved to spend more time there but just could not handle the heat at this point. We didn't really know where to head next but realized the park goes in a big circle around a lagoon so you really have to walk through the whole park to get back to the beginning. We headed to the Jurassic Park area.
I really did enjoy the theme of this whole park.In the jurassic area you feel like you are in a Jungle. It would have been wonderful to explore if it had been a little cooler.I guess we will just put it on our to do list for next time.We spotted the Jurassic Park river adventure ride.I had a vauge memory of reading about it and knew it was a water ride and it had dinosaurs.Logan is not a big dino fan but I asked him if he wanted to ride it and explained that there would be dinosaurs. He seemed fine with it so we hopped right on.
The ride started off pretty well. They had some dinaosaurs munchng the plants and it was not scary at all!
I made a comment to Paul at the beginning of the ride that I didn't know if it was better or worse that we didn't really know what to expect from this ride.he voted for better.By the end of the ride I was voting for worse. After you ride along a little bit you realize a dinosaur has escaped and is tearing up the building you ride through.I was so busy worrying about the kids when they saw this:
Yeah, I know, horrible picture.I didn't take this-I found it on google and for some reason it came back as this but you get the idea. This horrible dinosaur is right over your head like he is going to eat you.He is VERY large and Loud and terrifying.I think they put him there to distract you from this:
What we didin't realize is there is an 84 foot drop at 50 miles an hour.I almost peed myself.Would you like a closer look at our faces? Here you go:
After I recovered from my heart attack and realized the kids were still alive I started really kicking myself for not checking this ride out closer.I think Logan will need therapy for a long time after this ride.Hannah looked terrified but she was really fine with it.Logan on the other hand is still having the occasional nightmare about it.Bad Mommy. We took a few moments to compose ourselves and Logan started feeling better.
We had some cool drinks from a cute stand named appropriately "The Food Chain".
We happened to look up and saw this really neat ride called the Pteranodon flyers.
We headed over and discovered that this was actually a kiddie ride of sorts. You have to have a child with you to ride.I was kind of suprised because there were a whole lot of adults who wanted to ride this too.The CM at the ride entrance was super patient explaining this to everyone. She also had to tell them all over and over there was no fast pass for this ride and there wad a 90 minute wait!!!! Not to mention that the ride itself only lasts 90 seconds!!!Had we not been allowed to the front there would have been NO way we would have done this ride.A nice CM had to take us up 3 stories through a winding cave like structure to the front of the line.We jumped on and took our quick flying ride.I didn't get any pics of the kids but snapped away as we rode it.
We walked back down through the winding cave.At the bottom Logan spotted a neat fountain.
