When you wish upon a star..Hannah's make a wish trip

Looks like a fun trip so far!! I've been reading along but don't get much time to post sometimes! But I had to tell you how handsome logan looks! I am SO GLAD that he likes his outfit- You don't know the angst I had that he would hate it!! (or that it wouldn't fit) Lucas was reading along with me today and recognized the outfit and asked his name. Then said "he's my friend too!"
We haven't been to universal for a long time, I think Islands of adventure was new last time!
It is quite a long haul to the actual entrance! Thank Goodness for those moving sidewalks!!
I don't care for spongebob much either but the kids Love to watch it when they can! Although I do have to admit I usually laugh when I do watch it-
Aww, Lucas is such a cutie! Logan really does love that outfit. He picks that often to wear.

Aw, Hannah looks beautiful in that shirt! I love seeing the pictures. I was a little afraid it wouldn't fit well. I'm so excited she wore it during the trip (and at Universal too, we love those parks). I have really enjoyed reading your trip report. You have a beautiful family!
The shirts fit perfectly and we LOVE them. SO cute!!!!! Logan changed into his for Islands of Adventure-coming up next!

After we left Universal we made the long hot walk over to Islands Of Adventure.Logan did a quick costume change into the shirt made by disylou.

We headed straight to Suess Landing.
976.jpg

It was really cute with amazing theming. The bad part was there was virtually NO shade anywhere in this area.It was so bad that if we stopped anywhere Hannah would jump right out of her wheelchair and run for any spot of shade. We decided to do the Cat in the Hat ride since it was inside and air conditioned.Once again we were given a personal escort right to the front of the line.We found it did often take a few minutes for them to radio our escort but we didn't mind a bit.We often chatted with the CM's who were super freindly. The Cat in the Hat ride had a pressed penny machine right out front so we had to grab a few of those.
977.jpg

Once we exited the ride we saw these guys:
980.jpg

Yes, I know , those are not my children.;) Hannah was so hot and tired at this point she really didn't want to even bother to go meet them.I had to take a picture because I am a big grinch fan and can recite the whole story. We headed out of Suess landing quickly. We all would have loved to spend more time there but just could not handle the heat at this point. We didn't really know where to head next but realized the park goes in a big circle around a lagoon so you really have to walk through the whole park to get back to the beginning. We headed to the Jurassic Park area.
jurassicpark.jpg

I really did enjoy the theme of this whole park.In the jurassic area you feel like you are in a Jungle. It would have been wonderful to explore if it had been a little cooler.I guess we will just put it on our to do list for next time.We spotted the Jurassic Park river adventure ride.I had a vauge memory of reading about it and knew it was a water ride and it had dinosaurs.Logan is not a big dino fan but I asked him if he wanted to ride it and explained that there would be dinosaurs. He seemed fine with it so we hopped right on.
982.jpg

The ride started off pretty well. They had some dinaosaurs munchng the plants and it was not scary at all!

I made a comment to Paul at the beginning of the ride that I didn't know if it was better or worse that we didn't really know what to expect from this ride.he voted for better.By the end of the ride I was voting for worse. After you ride along a little bit you realize a dinosaur has escaped and is tearing up the building you ride through.I was so busy worrying about the kids when they saw this:

JP_River20Adventure20120copy.gif

Yeah, I know, horrible picture.I didn't take this-I found it on google and for some reason it came back as this but you get the idea. This horrible dinosaur is right over your head like he is going to eat you.He is VERY large and Loud and terrifying.I think they put him there to distract you from this:
jurassac.jpg

What we didin't realize is there is an 84 foot drop at 50 miles an hour.I almost peed myself.Would you like a closer look at our faces? Here you go:
jurrasac.jpg

After I recovered from my heart attack and realized the kids were still alive I started really kicking myself for not checking this ride out closer.I think Logan will need therapy for a long time after this ride.Hannah looked terrified but she was really fine with it.Logan on the other hand is still having the occasional nightmare about it.Bad Mommy. We took a few moments to compose ourselves and Logan started feeling better.
981.jpg

We had some cool drinks from a cute stand named appropriately "The Food Chain".:rolleyes1
We happened to look up and saw this really neat ride called the Pteranodon flyers.
top-ioa-pteranodonflyers-blue-1.jpg

We headed over and discovered that this was actually a kiddie ride of sorts. You have to have a child with you to ride.I was kind of suprised because there were a whole lot of adults who wanted to ride this too.The CM at the ride entrance was super patient explaining this to everyone. She also had to tell them all over and over there was no fast pass for this ride and there wad a 90 minute wait!!!! Not to mention that the ride itself only lasts 90 seconds!!!Had we not been allowed to the front there would have been NO way we would have done this ride.A nice CM had to take us up 3 stories through a winding cave like structure to the front of the line.We jumped on and took our quick flying ride.I didn't get any pics of the kids but snapped away as we rode it.

We walked back down through the winding cave.At the bottom Logan spotted a neat fountain.

Continued in just a second:

We walked over to the Toon Lagoon since we knew we had one final ride to do.
toonlagoon.jpg

We wanted to do the Bilge Rat barges. It is similar to Kali River rapids but not quite as much fun.We did have a good time and got good and wet.

By this time it was getting late and we wanted to head back to GKTW because it was Christmas in Florida that night and Santa would be visiting the village. We did stop and snap one last picture:
1000.jpg

We managed to do it all.Seven parks in five days.Plus our travel days.I can't believe we fit it all in.There was lots we missed but we sure did and saw a ton.We headed back to the van, chnaged the kids out of there sopping wet clothes and headed back to the village.
Stay tuned for Christmas in August and back to Down Town Disney. Also, will our plane ever actually take off???

I absolutely love this picture. I can see my husband in that exact same spot looking pretty much the same way your husband looks!:rotfl2:

I am really exhausted and amazed just thinking about all you did! Even in the heat, your family is so cute. Oh and you don't get to be a bad mom just 'cause you went on that dinosaur scary ride...we all do things like that. Ignorance is not always bliss!:scared1: I absolutely could never do the hanging ride there. I can't even do Soarin'. So one trip Mike said "Let's do Peter Pan. There's no line, it will be fun." Guess what, it is a hanging ride and I had to keep my eyes closed and deep breathe just to get through it!

Can't wait to see the Christmas pictures.popcorn::

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: The close-up pic of you all is just priceless....look at those expressions...oh my! I know it wasn't funny at the time...but you gotta admit now it is quite amusing!
I too am very impressed with your itinerary and how you fit so much in~my dh never would have been able to keep up with you people! And I don't know if I could have either! I love all of your pics! Universal is fun huh. :cool1: Can't wait to hear all about Santa! :santa:

After making our way back to GKTW we all grabbed quick showers and headed to dinner.GKTW had a nice "Christmas" dinner that evening with turkey, potatoes, gravy etc.We knew that Santa would be making an apperance in the theatre so off we went.Hannah was thrilled, Logan was a little more subdued.Santa won him over real quickly when he showed him the cool blue light he had on his finger.I have to say that Santa was Fabulous with the kids.

IMG_0063.jpg

After we visited with Santa they took the kids to an area where there were toys to choose from.Hasbro donates them for the village.Hannah chose a "fur real pet" a kitten and Logan chose and IPOD mini(which I was shocked they had as they are not cheap!) We grabbed a quick family pic outside:
IMG_0019.jpg

I had made these neat family shirts before we left.I had seen the designs on the creative DIS board and tweaked it a bit for our family.I kind of wish we had worn them before in the week ,because they got a ton of attention. In fact we couldn't walk more than five feet without someone asking about them.I am hoping to make some for upcoming wish families since they were such a huge hit.
Outside in the courtyard area they had a snow machine and christmas music playing. They had stations set up where the kids could do activities such as decorating their own cookies. We saw Mayor Clayton(the rabbit) and his wife(girlfriend?) Ms. Merry.

We also saw the gingerbread man!

I need to print our boading passes for our flight the next day so I sent the family on ahead of me and I went to the main office to collect them(I had asked them to do this for me earlier in the evening)I then met up with the familoy at the Ice Cream Palace for our last ice cream of the trip.We didn't take advantage of this as much as we would have liked since Hannah can't have any.But it didn't seem to bother her as she was more interested in the rocking horse.

We then made a quick trip to the Castle of miracles so we could see where Hannah's star was placed in the ceiling.

IMG_0021.jpg

We had been given the coordinates of the star so the volunteers were able to help us find it.They take a pole that has a camera on it and pass it over the area until you find your star.We then headed back to the villa and I started packing while the kids fooled around.

I LOVE the shirts! LOVE Love LOVE them! Did you just glue the buttons on? Or did you sew through them once on?

I loved your TR. The shirts you made are great! I've got to take another look at the Creative board!

Thanks guys. I can't really take credit for the original design though.I just love how everyone around here is all about sharing the pixi dust.I just glued them on for this trip because I ran out of time but in the future I would sew them.I used fabric glue. For the guys designs I used fabric paint around the edges.

I wasn't going to do family shirts because we are such a modpodge going. My neice and 2 nephews and BIL (sister can't get out of a nursing exam). But they look great, I'm going to have to break down and do it.

I had not told the kids that I had arranged for a little suprise earlier in the week. There was a knock on the door and guess who was there? Ms. Merry the rabbit! She had come to tuck Hannah in bed!

Hannah was THRILLED. Logan not so much but he enjoyed watching the whole thing. She was so cute and Ms Merry was a hoot. She tucked her in and kissed all of her stuffed animals. It was a really fun thing for the kids and they were so suprised.Hannah and Logan very happily went to bed that evening and qickly drifted off to sleep.Paul and I ran around for a few hours trying to pack a lot of stuff we had accumulated over the week.Soon we gave it up and headed to bed ourselves for our last night at the village.

What a wonderful last evening! Are there a lot of other wish families there with you? It seems like things are so personal but I can tell there are other people in the background.

Hi Amy, It was an amazing end to a great week. While at the village (and Christmas) there were a lot of other families.I guess you could compare it to staying at a resort. There are a ton of villas and they are actually expanding and building more because the demand for wish kids is so great.During the day it is usually pretty quiet though as most families are out at the parks. The most action usually takes place in the evenings.

:cloud9: What an adorable family you have! I love the huge smiles on your daughter's face when she sees the characters; she truly has the Disney spirit! I'm really enjoying reading about your trip so far!

Heather, I'm still here and reading! I've been crazy-busy since school started for us, so I don't always post, though. But I LOVED reading about your Universal day! The only thing we really didn't do there that I know would've been fun was to visit the Popeye area, but that was mainly because I knew how wet we would get. Seeing your pics confirms my suspicions!! And wasn't Christmas fun?? It was so much fun to see your pics because I felt like I had returned to GKTW. I showed the kids Ms. Merry tucking Hannah in and Shay Lynne got so mad! She wanted to know why Ms. Merry didn't come and tuck her in. I had to remind her that it was Clay's wish trip, so we asked Mayor Clayton to come instead. I'm sad your trip is coming to an end...but we'll have several others to look forward to soon, thankfully. Your kids looked so cute in all their clothes, and I love, love, LOVE the t-shirts you made! I know the families enjoy getting matching t-shirts -- we sure did!

:goodvibes I don't know how we fit that much in.I have to say we wouldn't do so much on another trip but since we had this amazing oppertunity, we decided to so as much as we possibly could!!!

Thanks! Hannah was just over the moon to meet so many characters.I think she enjoyed that the most.

Universal WAS fun, I only wish we were not so tired and had more time to do more of Universal.Oh well, at least we got to sample it!That's kind of funny about Shay Lynne being mad, well at least she can see what Ms. Merry was like!I am sad the trip report is coming to an end.I guess I have been putting off writing about it because it feels like leaving there all over again! At least we have amazing memories of a once in a lifetime trip.I guess I will have to start planning a way to get us back there!

Great pictures. I love Hannah and Logan! I really love the darling shirts you made. I want some for us but I truly have no clue when we would wear them...the kids will be changing clothes all day long every day as it is now!

Thanks so much for the Santa pictures. I have been trying to explain to the kids that Santa will be there and I don't think they believed me until I showed them the pictures. You have done such an awesome job!

Wow, what a wonderful week you guys had!!!

All of the outfits looked fantastic!!!
