When you have DAS, besides the 2 already pre-booked- do you physically have to be in the park to book another ride?

We are staying at BLT. When you have DAS, besides the 2 already pre-booked via the registration process, do you physically have to be in the park to book another ride the day? I know you can do it on your phone and don't physically have to go to that ride and have the CM scan your band for a return time. But, I was curious if you actually have to be on site at the park to book a ride? So, for example if I'm still in my room at 9am and I have tickets to MK that day, can I reserve a ride on my phone once the park opens even though I'm still in my room and not at the park yet? Thanks! =)

Yes and no. You don't have to physically be in the park to make a DAS return time, BUT you had to HAVE scanned in already. So, once you scan into MK, you can leave to take a midday break and make a DAS return time via the app from your hotel.

In addition, if you are park hopping, you will not be able to make your own DAS selection to the second park until you arrive there and scan in as well.

Thanks! Good to know. We're probably going to take a midday break too!

This was last summer, so I don't know if the new system has changed things, but we we able to get a DAS return time at the blue umbrella as we left MK to park hop to EPCOT.

Also, the entire party has to have been scanned into the same park.

If part of your party park hops and the other doesn't, you won't be able to book for those that were in a different park than the DAS holder most recently.

Yes, you can get it in person from a Guest Relations CM, but you can't do it yourself on the app until you have scanned into the next park.

The app also doesn't immediately recognize when you have entered the second park. It takes usually 5-15 minutes to refresh and allow you to request a DAS in that park. For this reason, we always get the DAS in person for the next park before we leave the first park.

It has been immediate for us, but they will give you a DAS for another park before you leave the first one now? For example, if we are in EPCOT and are going to head to Hollywood Studios, we could get a return time for say Rise before leaving EPCOT?

I know this works at Disneyland Resort, but I haven't heard of this working at WDW.

From reports online, yes.

Anybody heard when UK visitors will be allowed 2 DAS pre booked rides? As of November 2021 we were only allowed 1

Anyone who registers for DAS in advance via the video pre-registration is eligible for the 2 DAS Advanced Selections in addition to the day-of DAS Return Times. If you register on-site at a WDW park, you are only eligible for day-of DAS Return Times. So there is no "only allowed 1."

As I understand it, the challenge is connecting to the video pre-registration, which is primarily accessible via the US website and only available in English at this time. That said, I have heard of people in Canada using a VPN to access the DAS pre-registration, essentially by bypassing the Canadian WDW website. I'm not techie enough to know if that is what's actually occurring or if it would work from another country.

I'm not sure ifCanadians need a VPN, as the Canadian website has the links for registration and advance selection - see eg https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/guest-services/disability-access-service/register/

That makes no sense, why would it be different based on where you live?

I have no idea but we managed to get through to the cast member bang on 8am UK time and was told that UK guests had to go to guest services to register for it. Quite a few people on my Florida sites had the same issue. This was literally the week that USA opened its borders to UK visitors so it may have changed now but we had to register at guest services and were only given 1 ride

I'm glad you were able to get 1 Advanced Selection in person, it's possible that was the only availability by the time you registered in-person; folks are finding limited availability even 25-30 days out. And most folks who register in-person are not being offered any DAS Advanced Selections.

If you haven't tried more recently than November, I suggest trying again. Up above a poster commented they can connect from the Canada website. I do recall something about only available in the US last fall when the new video registration rolled out, but I cannot find that wording anymore which leads me to believe that was due to a stepped roll-out process and they have now gotten the IT functional (as function as Disney IT can be!) internationally. It was a very challenging roll-out in the fall with people spending days online trying to connect to the chat. Recent reports seem to be a much smoother process now. Just be aware that the hours correspond to US Eastern time (7am - 10pm) and it is only offered in English.
