When you don't give Christmas gifts

Hmmm, if I wanted to disconnect from gift giving I would have baked goods at the ready for reciprocation. If it is really just the thought that counts then things will be unchanged next year, if it is a grab they won't repeat next year. Lots of people understand things get tight and this would be a subtle way of saying it but not saying it, if you are lucky you might just get a cookie swap next year.

One of the most memorable gift I've ever received was a box of homemade fudge. It was from my great grandmother. I will never forget the smile on her face or the twinkle in her eye when she handed it to me.

The roasted garlic powder and the smoked Spanish paprika are favorites- and also their ditch processed cocoa! You can also buy trial size bags of some spices for $2-$3, if there's something you want to try but aren't sure you want to spend a lot on. I have to be careful what I spend, as I don't live near a Penzey's store so have to have stuff shipped, but it's still worth it to me. ALSO I will buy $50 gift cards for $35 just for myself, so when I need to buy something, even if it's not on sale, I still get a discount (and it's already paid for)!

We always got her a gift no matter what, she was our mom.

But we are in our 50-60’s we do not need our mom to buy us anything when she is not making much in her 80’s. When she was alive I could not go to her place empty handed even though she does not need anything.

I can see that. My mom is more financially stable than me who has a mortgage and teens. I’m early 50s.
I don’t need anything from my mom but a little fun money at Christmas is always appreciated..

What did you say last year to these people you are no longer giving gifts too?

If these are people who normally y'all exchange gifts with you should have told them earlier than asking here on the Boards nearly mid-December. Chances are they have purchased something for y'all.
