When Will They Start Selling GF DVC Points Any Knowledge?

I talked to my guide yesterday (to have him call me when points go on sale) and he didn't have any word on a date, but he said with Bay Lake it wasn't long after they officially announced it was being built that points started going on sale. He also said points will be available for purchase for current DVC owners first before going on sale to general public.

He did not have information on point charts or how much per point would cost at the moment either but promised to get the info to me as soon as he received it.

When exactly was BLT announced and when did it go on sale?

IIRC, wasn't the building actually partially standing when it was announced?

I think that Florida's Timeshare laws require that a certain percentage of construction be completed before they can start selling. That is one of the reasons why they like to convert some of the existing hotel rooms to DVC units which will let them start selling sooner. You can also expect the construction to take a few years and to be completed in phases.

That is what they did at Kidani and Aulani.

This is the first DVC unit announced since we joined. When they've announced the past ones, did guides sign up people to be contacted when it went on sale or anything? I have no desire to join, but I'm just curious about the vague e-mail I just got from my guide. The subject said "BIG DVC NEWS! Call me for details!" but the message itself just had her e-mail signature. I assume it has to be about GFV in some form or another...

Typically it has been a few months after they "top out" (finish the main structural elements), Since it is 6-7 stories if will likely be a structural steel buidling so if they start now that would be fall of 2012 putting point sales for next winter

Ok lets habe your input on just how much the prices will start at. Have at it.

I think it will be right at Aulani prices or a tad higher..is it at $120 or $130 now?? (Ouch!) so glad I bought my VGC at under $100 and am d o n e.

What an annoying email! They should just tell you what the big news is ;) It's the age of the internet...if you're checking your email you likely already know.

It's ok I guess to speculate on the price but they had better have some pretty good incentives because I refuse to pay 150 or even 140 per point. I 'll stick with my BLT points and try to get in at the 7 month mark.

Aulani sales started late June 2010; Aulani opened August 2011; about 14 month lead time before opening.

BLT sales started September 2008; BLT opened August 2009; about 11 months lead time before opening.

AKV (Jambo) sales started about February 2007; AKV (Jambo) opened July 2007; 5 months lead time before opening.

AKV (Kidani) sales started April 2008; Kidani Village opened May 2009; about 13 months lead time before opening.

BLT started selling a little less than 10 months before opening. That is the longest DVD has started selling a WDW resort before opening and it is doubful GF sales will start much earlier. Florida laws don't require buliding to be complete or even close to complete to start sales but laws and rules Florida does have on required disclosures, the seller being required to hold funds in esrow until completion, rights to rescind if resort changes after date of sale or does not open when stated make the better business decision not to start selling too far out.

I can't see it being less than BLT ($150).

BLT is $150??!! Holy Cow..where have I been??? So is Aulani at $150 too? Man oh Man..outrageous..yes, I'm sure GFV will sell for more than BLT..I didn't know prices had gotten so high since I'm not in the market. Wow.

Aulani just went up from $120 to $135 last week.
