Biden has some great gaffes and SNL needs to start doing skits on him. I'm thinking they won't until after the election. SNL doesn't want to make him look stupid because they want him elected. So when do you think they will do some skits on him?

Biden has foot in mouth moments. Not really all that funny. Bush has so many more and they are frequently stupidly silly that they are great fodder for the troupe. McCain and Obama get air time, but again, they are really not terribly funny characters. Palin has said so many obscure and bizzare things that it makes it so the writers can take a night off.

Now, if Obama and Biden get in, I have no doubt that they will be heavily featured, just as President Clinton was.

FWIW, Romney probably wouldn't be heavily featured - but Giuliani probably would have gotten instant airtime. Does that make sense?

I just do not think it is a MSM issue. It is which public personas lend themselves to parody. Palin is easy pickens. And frankly having a cast member (or recent ex) that is a dead ringer for Palin, just can't hurt.

Let's see .. Lorne Michaels (SNL producer) and Jeff Zucker (NBC CEO) have both held Obama fundraisers at their homes. So to answer your question .. Maybe never?

And yet they do Obama skits...:confused3

Honestly? Biden's been around for a number of years; some of his gaffes are legendary.

Palin's a new face on the scene---I believe even she's said that now? :rotfl: Point is, the MSM and the general public are scrambling to get every bit of detail about her before the election. Goes with the territory of being the new kid on the block.

Whether it's right or wrong, it's still going to happen.

But not in the national spotlight (like a Presidential race)

If Palin had been consistently out there (like in the primaries) under scrutiny with the rest, she would already be old news.

really....some folks just notice and pick at what they want.... SNL jkes about obama too.

SNL had those jokes about MSM "fawning" over obama...and the clinton jokes from this weekend, where he can't say that he suppports obama were hysterical too!
and as was also pointed out..some things are just funnier than others....
palin has given them so much great material..in such a short time....

Exactly.

Thus why I really feel that campaigning should be kept to a limited amount of time; don't drag it out over two years, but don't spring these nominees on us at the 11th hour either!

Plus, I've never seen anyone be able to do such a dead-on impersonation as Tina Fey has done with Palin---how could SNL resist?!

OMG, it must be bad when the conservatives are complaining about SNL. :rotfl:

SNL will do jokes about Biden when they are FUNNY.

As someone else mentioned, Biden's gaffes are mostly the kind of "oh boy, did he say that" thing... they are good for a small laugh, but not the kind of train wreck answers that Sarah Palin has been giving.

The thing that makes Palin such a target (and so funny) is that she is appearing so incompetent, not just that she is making mistakes - all candidates do that.

One of my favorite movies is "My Favorite Year"... in that movie there is an old '50s variety/comedy show called the King Kaiser Show... modeled on Sid Caesar's show.

In the story, the show has a regular bit making fun of a New York mobster... who doesn't like it. He comes to the studio and threatens that producer and the star.

The star finally telly him that they aren't going to cut the bit out of the show because "You NEVER cut funny!"

THAT's all that SNL really cares about... if something is funny, they will go with it.
