There's a bunch of deadlines associatied with this latest deal. AC has to come to an agreement with their unions by May 14th or this latest financial deal will be pulled. Their current bankruptcy protection is set to expire May 21st, but if this latest deal holds, you can expect the protection to be extended. Something else is supposed to happen by June 30th, I can't remember what. I think right now, they are supposed to emerge from bankruptcy protection by September 30th. That's another condition of their latest investment deal.
If AC and their unions don't come to an agreement by the 14th of May all bets could be off. The offer of investment will be pulled, and the judge could refuse to extend their protection.
I, for one, am hoping they hang on. We're booked to fly with them early this summer - and we have to finish paying for the trip by May 21st. Isn't that an interesting conincidence?
If you really want to go with AC, I would hold off booking past the end of this month. I've heard rumors too that they will likely stay in the air for the summer since it's their "busy season", and after that if they're still in trouble that could be the end of them. Who knows, but personally I would hold off booking. Being a potential AC passenger has caused me a lot of stress in the past month or so!
