When will '09 dates be released?

How long would it take to go to Burmuda from New York, then Port Canaveral and the Carribean? Would the weather be warm in summer coming out of NY?

Most cruiselines take about 2 days to sail from New York to Bermuda. We sailed from Baltimore to Bermuda in 1997 and it took about 2.5 days then we spent about 3 days docked in Bermuda (Kings Wharf) and then sailed back to Baltimore. This was in May and pretty cold out on the Atlantic but gorgeous weather once we got to Bermuda. The seas were rough as well, the only time I have ever been seasick.

Yes, my aunt and uncle have done one on Celebrity (but only to Bermuda) and loved leaving out of NY!

Thank you for the info.

I vote for a whole summer of PC repo cruises.

That would be popular, they have sold out quickly before, but that might be due to them being 'limited' IE there was two east/west in 05 and two in 08, and many people enjoy longer cruises but there have been a few.

I would say though Panama canal transit costs DCL a lot, and I mean a lot, it recently increased, this is to pay for bigger locks, also the Magic sustained some damage scratches etc last time and they have scheduled a dry dock after the e/bound Cruise cleverly this time.

But if its Alaska in 09, there would have to be a PC transits each way.

I think over a time, if there was a summer of them,-they would become normal, I have done a transit on Princess and next year would be my second PC transit, I wouldn't wish to do a third DCL one for a long time.

I am really looking forward to my 08 transit and it would be nice for others who missed out to enjoy these cruises.

My husband is really gunning for a PC transit cruise. He'd also love an Alaskan cruise. It might take more to sell me on Alaska, though.

Now think if you could book them together, a repo to LA from Port Canaveral then onwards to Alaska, cost a lot though!

That would be an amazing cruise. Panama Canal transit, Pacific costal and then Alaska. I would love to do that, but DH would never take that much time off from work. I can barely get him to take 7 days at a time. Maybe, it could be a voyage just for me and my DDs - we can just leave DH at home working to pay for it!!:lmao:

In my post today is a Princess cruises Alaska brochure with up to 45% off, I think they are telling me something, Goldern princess and Star princess leave Seattle USA for week long trips, they have covered pools, the pictures look very nice indeed, but what interests me is the Rock mountaineer train from Jasper to Vancover they look so nice. Its an add on to their cruises.

Yes the issue is paying for it all.

Hi Andrew, as you know my youngest daughter and I took a RCCL ship out of Cape Liberty, NJ (a 20 minute taxi ride from Manhattan) in early June of this year. We boarded the ship, had a day at sea, then Bermuda (which was really lovely -- I'd love to go back on DCL), then another day at sea, St. Martin, St. Thomas, San Juan, then two days at sea -- 9 night total cruise. The weather is variable in this area early in the summer, but no more so than Port Canaveral in the winter. So you would rather do this kind of cruise than one to Alaska?

I would book that at a drop of a hat if it was DCL, I could fly to New York, I do want to go back and take the kids there, and then do Bermuda and the Caribbean.

Alaska, is lower on the priority list, thats a maybe, but not a certain.

I wondered about the first bit coming out of NY if it was 'cool'.

My preference is DCL as the kids love it but your RCCL one sounded good.

Yes, the Rocky Mountaineer is a great trip. Awesome scenery. They run the train from Vancouver to Kamloops and then through the Rockies in the daylight. Very expensive though. I would love to do it some day. If you have the time the drive is quite nice as well. You could drive from Vancouver to Calgary thru the Rockies and then fly home.

When DCL decides to do Alaska we'll definitely be there whether it's in 2009 or after. Either a Vancouver or Seattle port is easy for us. Hoping they do either a few Panama Canal itineraries or extended Caribbean sailings for 2009.

We did our first cruise in August of this year and we're hooked. Hoping to get on the EB Panama when the 90 out payup date hits.

Firstly I hope you get on the EB PC cruise its really great, and do look out every day/night around and just after 90 day pay up point as there was availability last time and that cruise was as booked as this, maybe also register with a quality DCL T/A's.

My son and I love trains and thoose rail trips in the Rockys do tempt me, far more than a cruise in Alaska.

I really would love to do one of thoose.

Good luck on getting on the EBPC, Hope to see you on it.

Well, I spent a lot of time on the RCCL ship thinking about how much it was not like Disney . . . if I take another one I will have a different mindset, for sure. The rock climbing wall, ice skating rink, inline skating, etc., were awesome but the general decor, atmosphere, and entertainment could not compare to Disney. I also became bored with the same restaurant every night, although our servers were fabulous (only matched by the ones we had this summer on the Med and Med repo cruises).

When we left NYC for Bermuda on June 5th it was cool-ish and foggy, which impaired the view to the Statue of Liberty, the sight of the ship's mast barely making it under the Verrazano bridge, etc. However, I don't think it would be like that for every trip.

If DCL doesn't come up here, I may take all three girls on just the 5 night Bermuda cruise that RCCL has -- the day you get on, a day at sea, two days at Bermuda, another day at sea, and home again.

Yes, good luck getting on the EB PC cruise next year . . . we will be on it, luckily. I would love an Alaska DCL cruise, and hopefully it would include Vancouver and Victoria, both of which I have seen (and loved) but my girls have not.

If I sailed out of NY I would want to see it all, and would be disappointed if I missed anything, But it would have to be later than yours, Late July or August so I presume it would be hotter.

Seeing the statue of liberty would be a must, last time I flew by it on a helicopter.

I do fancy trying another ship the facilities sound good, but the family love DCL too much.
