When will '09 dates be released?

Something to think about, one year ago tomorrow, October 24th there was an announcement here on the Dis by the Webmaster that the first part of 08 cruises will open up.

Now if DCL repeats this, tomorrow would be the anniversary, and they would release standard cruises for the 3/4 night Wonder to April 09, and maybe the Magic standard cruises to that date as well.

Note the Special summer Magic cruises did not come out until January 31st 2007.

Lets see if history repeats itself.

Very interesting!!!

How long would it take to go to Burmuda from New York, then Port Canaveral and the Carribean? Would the weather be warm in summer coming out of NY?

The weather can be very warm in NYC during the summer. We took an 8 night cruise out NYC in July of 2005 and it was down right hot...high 80's with high humidity at all the ports. But...it is an awesome sight to sail down the Hudson River, past the Statue of Liberty and under the Verazzano Narrows bridge....awesome. It was a bit foggy on our way out of NYC but still wonderful!!!

It was even more awesome when the WTC buildings were still there....it breaks my heart every time I see that empty skyline....

Our cruise took 2.5 days at sea to get to San Juan, then next day we called on St. Thomas, next day at Tortola and then 2.5 days back to NYC....great cruise!!!

Here are some pics of you would like to see.

Thank you for the pictures.

Well today is the 'anniversary of an announcement for the first quarters DCL standard cruises for 2008 from January to April, so had high expectations we might see something today, but after looking at every website I know I haven't seen anything so far anywhere.

Hopefull that history would have repeated itself and Q1/2009 Standard cruises would have been released.

You know you're right that usually the Wonder cruise dates are released earlier. It makes me "wonder" if the Dis Podcast rumor of the Wonder doing 3/4/7 day itineraries might be true.

Kylie the re-booking representative aboard the Wonder a few weeks ago did say 2009 dates/itineraries would not be released until the beginning of December and I'm quite sure she said the entire 2009 schedule would come out at that time along with saying no Med for '09 and that the ships were staying closer to home.

Now think if you could book them together, a repo to LA from Port Canaveral then onwards to Alaska, cost a lot though!

Since I missed out on the wb pc repo this time, that is exactly what I might do, of course I would have to scrap my 2008 circle cruise to hawaii to do it, but,it might be worth it.

That makes a lot of sense as if they released the Full year Wonder trips and we spotted 3/4/7 night trips we will all know that the Magic is off on its travels, however they could release up to April and we wouldn't know.......

..Now she could well know something...and you would expect that....however DCL sometimes are not fully joined up and they have said before a later release date, and then they have come out, ...I really hope they stagger the release and booking of any cruises as it causes so many problems and frustration, on us, their staff, the website and T/agents. Releasing all at the same time is a big back wards step, which will annoy people.

All you need to do is read the posts here when things went wrong on release days.

We just have to keep eyes and ears (Mickey ones) fully open.Booking in segments would be good, just think if it was Hong Kong via Hawaii in 2010.

Good luck.:thumbsup2

Sounds great! I'm all for Hong Kong! If I had my way, Disney would go to Alaska in '09 and Hong Kong in '10 or vice versa. I'm not picky!!!;) :rolleyes1

Hey, not to change the subject...but 09 Alaska and Hong Kong 2010 would be a dream. I'm going to Alaska 08 because I just couldn't wait any longer for Disney. Now, that I booked my air watch Disney say they're going to Alaska oh, well.
Anyway, to go to Hong Kong do you think they could reposition the ship straight Florida to Hong Kong? I am hoping for a miracle. If they do it in 2 parts I will be on the Hawaii to Hong Kong. I'd drive to the port. Now, I never get to cruise Disney without having to endure at least a 5 hour plane ride. Just wondering the logistics. The Disney time share in Hawaii is not expected to open until 2011. I don't know if they would reposition the boat through Hawaii without that time share open.

There has been a 'connection' with DCL linking up its trips with Disney parks and also 'Disney adventures ashore' cross marketing is a logical way to progress and I know Disney is very popular in the far east and would have a lot of business in Hong Kong.

TO SUMMARIZE -what we know, from the posts on this thread.

One of the other talking points is the longer than usual dry dock for the magic in 2008.

2008 Dry-dock Plans
The Magic will be in dry-dock September 6-27, 2008.

Now some have mentioned including the Dispodacst team this longer dry-dock might be to assist with modifications to the pool areas for a possible Alaska trip.

DIS-PODCAST

Say Alaska Summer 2009

DCL AGENTS ON BOARD

Say cruises will start to be released early December, and the ship will be closer to its home than the previous two years. Hint Bermuda

RESPECTED TRAVEL AGENTS

Have sent e.mails saying Caribbean.

CAPTAIN TOM

Said in the Med a strong hint for Northern Europe.

RELEASE DATES

Have usually have started in November for the first part of the following year, say January to April standard 3/4 Wonder cruises, and standard Magic cruises for 7 nights.

We are overdue, conjecture, DCL is negotiating now with Port Canaveral , they are unhappy with costs and restrictions on the port calls to keep their pier exclusive to DCL. Miami port has said soon they will sign up a big cruise line, Would DCL move to Miami or Tampa, its this a reason for delay.

PAST YEARS
The Special summer cruises have come out later,

FOR 2005 May 5th 2004
FOR 2007 April 3rd 2006
FOR 2008 January 31st 2007.

The summer 2006 cruises were double dips in the Caribbean.

Front runners:-

Alaska
Carribean special trips maybe Bermuda.

Outsdie runner

Europe but a lot of people have recently discounted the Med or Northern Europe now.
