When will '09 dates be released?

So it was strange on my Aug 2007 Wonder cruise to hear from every single CM that I talked to that they have heard zilch about 2009.....no rumors, nothing at all.....even the rebooking agent said she's never heard it so quiet.
Do you think that upper-management has been especially tight-lipped because of how things spread like wildfire on internet boards? Perhaps they're starting to get much better at keeping secrets?

Definitely a possibility......DCL has been burned twice with Barcelona/west coast US cruises being found out before the official announcement.

Or maybe DCL has several different ideas on the table on what to do for 2009 and are still trying to decide among different alternatives.

The fact that lightning has struck twice with the Panama Canal cruises selling out in a day has to weigh in on where DCL decides to go in the future.

Ok, I'm a cruising newbie here, we are also hoping to cruise in 2009 for our honeymoon (after our Disney wedding! :goodvibes) so I may need a little assistance from all you experts!

How does the release work?

Do the dates and itineraries get released first, with bookings opening on a later date, or does it all happen at once?

Also, what time of day do bookings begin, we're in the UK, so we have that pesky little time difference to figure out! :lmao:

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!

The itineraries are usually released first, especially for special cruises. Booking usually begins a week or two weeks later.

I think booking starts at 7 Eastern time, but I'm not sure about that one.

Hi guys-
I just got off the Wonder yesterday and booked my "fake" '08 Magic reservation with plans to transfer once '09 info is released. I tried to probe the CM for info. She said it would definitely NOT be the Med or the Mexican Riviera. I asked if that was her opinion or fact and she said fact. I asked about Alaska and she said she had no facts, but her opinion was that she doubted it would be Alaska because of the layout of the Magic (open decks/cold weather - same discussion that's already been debated on this thread). She said they haven't told them anything certain about where, other than not Med or West Coast again. Just thought I'd share!

For special ones they have released the itineries about two weeks before release of sale, the usual ones seem just to 'open up'

Thank you this is a consistent messgae form the ships now, not the Med not Mexico, but ''closer to home''

just subscribing. Anxiously awaiting 09 date. We rebooked while on our cruise to get the onboard credit so I need to move our dates. We booked adjoining cat 4's but want one cat 3.

Ok at least we are one step closer to finding out the ittenary by know not Med or Mexican Riveria

I would LOVE :cloud9: a southern caribbean itinerary!

Yes I would go for that, th nearest has been the two REPO's one in 05 and the next in 08,

in 2005 Cruising to Curacao was great and hey accommodated us well, the next two days Caribbean sea sailing were the best and prettiest I have done.

:thumbsup2

Oh agony, agony!!!! Why does DCL torture us so???

It's sad that even though I'm cruising with RCI in April... all I can think about is getting back to DCL in '09:rotfl:

Well we do know there is a time limit, on ship they have said the first release will be by early December, just three weeks, but remember that might just be early 09 only.

Three weeks isn't too bad;)

BTW... Andrew DEREK UK, I've enjoyed the pics you've posted. Your DS looks like he is a little comedian!

Well, for what its worth, my TA called DCL and was told that they "hope" to get the rates for 2009 out by the end of the year.

Thank goodness there's only two months left in the year.

On ship they have consistently been told first week of December. ( that though might not be for all dates just the start.

Just off the Magic today (OH MY....ROUGH SEAS!!!). We rebooked for late 2008 and plan to move it to Oct. 2009. THe rebooking lady on board told me last night that the 2009 dates will be out in about 3 weeks. I hope she is right!!
