When Two Holidays Collide! An Oct. 2012 PTR UPDATE 6/30 Disneyland stuff

We've done the party over Halloween before it is a lot of fun. It wasn't as busy as I expected when we did it, but then again we weren't trying to ride rides, just let the kids see the characters and see the parade and fireworks, so it worked out well for us.

That's what I'm hoping for too. We just want to do it for character photos and trick or treating. I can ride the rides any time.

Fun "chill" day plans. I always get caught up in wanting to do everything at Epcot since it's my favorite park. And yay for F&W! That's the best time of year to visit, IMO.

Me too, I love:love: Epcot! I'm looking at all my plans so far and I'm still like, I don't get to do this, or I don't get to eat there:worried:. Can't wait for F&W! I just wish I was a cow, I could use an extra stomach or two for all the food I want to eat!:lmao:

Well, I'm happy to report that all of my Disney reservations
are done!:cheer2:

We were able to get Fantasmic at Mama Melrose's on Nov. 6. Yes, I double checked this time.;)

I got appointments for the boys to get their haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop.

Plus, I got all my DL reservations made. I'll give more details on the next post.

Only 165 days until Disney World!:dance3:

But, only 55 days until Disneyland!

I figured I would do a PTR inside a PTR and share my plans for DL.

When: July 12 to 17
Where: Desert Palms
What: We'll be celebrating P's 1st birthday.

TRAVEL DAY-JULY 12

*We'll be getting up before bright and early on July 12th and driving down.
*We're going to try to leave before sunrise so hopefully Peyton will sleep most of the way.
*We'll be stopping somewhere along the way so we can get our In n Out Burger fix (mmm, animal style aaaaa, that's my Homer Simpson impression in case you couldn't tell:rotfl2:).
*We'll check in to Desert Palms and then probably head to our favorite restaurant, Millie's for dinner.
*Probably head to DTD and see what I'm going to need to buy over the next several days.;)
*We'll call it a night early since DL will be opening at 8:00am.

How to keep the little one entertained along the way:

We have his Gerber Snack Puffs to munch on plus some new toys and I will probably spend about half of the trip in the backseat with him just to keep him company.

I'm not sure what kind of toys to bring along for the trip, here's what I'm thinking of so far:
*His crocodile rattle aka Tick Tock, he loves this rattle, it comes everywhere we go.
*Light up bouncy ball, his latest obsession. Mickey got it for him at the grocery store. It's one of those balls you smack on a hard service and it lights up (P figured out how to use use it in about 5 minutes).
*Duffy bear
*Buzz and Woody beanies.

I don't know what else to bring to keep him entertained. I would love to hear some ideas.

He has his mommy. What else does he need for entertainment? Maybe his Grandma will buy him something nice for his birthday.

Yay, you found me! Hi Mom!

I can only sing Hakuna Matata for so long!:rotfl2: Grandmas always give the best gifts.

Yay to both trips getting closer. I love In-N-Out. Yummy. We have one a few miles from here, but the line is always way too long. Since we are driving down the night before Connor's birthday after Crap gets off of work, we will not go to the park the first night either. I looked into Desert Palms, but they were all booked for our trip. Cannot wait to read about your Dl trip.

Wow, you are so close to the magic! Your Disneyland trip is right around the corner, and once you get back your Disney World trip will be even closer.

Does P like books? Even when he was younger, Andrew loved to have a book in front of him; even if we weren't reading to him, he liked to flip through and look at the pictures. (He still does that; he'll pull every single book off the shelf to "read" it.)

And I know this is probably frowned upon, but Fisher Price has some cute iPhone apps that we downloaded to help entertain Andrew on long car rides. There's one for counting animals, one that teaches letters (I think) and one that's all about animal sounds.

Joining in! All caught up on my lurking! :rotfl: So cool that you get to do DL and WDW in such a short time span...Baby P is lucky! And you have In n Out...yum, none of those around here! Looking forward to hearing more about your plans. Sounds wonderful to spend so long at WDW!

We have In N Out near us too, but it seems to taste better once we hit the Cali border.:rotfl: Sorry you're not having any luck with the hotel search, hopefully, something will pan out soon.

I so excited! This will probably be the last DL trip for a while since they they now want your first born child in exchange for a park:scared1: hopper. Not like WDW is a bad alternative.:lovestruc

He loves books, unfortunately, he is going through a phase where he love to tear up anything that's made of paper so all of his books are put up right now. I need to go get him some of those cardboard books. He should enjoy that.

Don't feel bad, DH and I have thought about installing a DVD player in the truck so he can watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. He is fascinated with my iPod as well, so I'll have to look into some games.

:welcome: Glad that you and "Princess Dug" have joined in! The one thing I wanted to do as long as DH and I have been together, before Baby P is to take our baby to DL for his first birthday. I can't wait to be in The Happiest Place on Earth again.:yay:

Joining in on your plans! :goodvibes I'm pretty sure I had opened up your PTR before our DL trip, started to read but forgot to subscribe, and then forgot by the time I got home. :rotfl: Luckily, I found my way back!

SO JEALOUS that your trip is two weeks long! I so wish I could have that much time to spend in WDW, not feeling as rushed from attraction to attraction trying to fit it all in. Looks like you have some good plans coming so far! Hopefully your DS will make the height requirement, but I'll just say my DS is pretty high on the length growth chart and at 19 months in DL he didn't make the cutoff for the Goofy kids' coaster. DH was bummed, but he should make it for Goofini by the time we go in October because he was 33" at his 18 month well visit. Surely he can grow 2 inches in 6 months!! Maybe Peyton will have a growth spurt? :confused3

:welcome: Glad to have you following along!

I hope you had a great time in DL.

It's crazy, even with 2 weeks, I still feel bummed that there's something that we've missed.

P has been between 90 and 95% on the growth chart, but when we took him to the Dr the other day, his weight gain had slowed (he was gaining 2 lbs a month and he's only gained 2 lbs in the last 4 months, but I was told that's normal). I'm guessing he probably won't make the requirement for DL, too bad, I was hoping he could ride the Matterhorn on his birthday, but oh well. There will be plenty for him to do anyway.

Hopefully Paxton will have his growth spurt.

Day 4: Peyton's First Visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom
copy12.jpg

We never made it to the Animal Kingdom on our last trip, so we can't wait to see P's reaction to all of the animals.

I would like to make it for rope drop, or at least by 10am. I think the best photo opportunities are within the first couple of hours. Plus, Mickey and I like to be done with AK by about 1 or 2, before it turns into the Meltdown Kingdom. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about, there's always that poor little kid that's having a meltdown and the parent that's telling them how they've spoiled the day because they didn't get to use their EE Fastpasses. Unfortunately, I've have seen this scene a couple of times. Anyway, I digress, back to the AK.:rolleyes1

*First up, photopass photos in front of the Tree of Life and some character photos.
copy11.jpg

*We'll head over to the Maharajah Jungle Trek for animal photos. I animals, especially the Silver Backs seem to be more active and stinkier early in the morning. I'm hoping the tigers are out, as you all know, cats are really hit or miss. On a side note, I really wish they would replace the plexiglass so it would be easier to take photos, since my camera always wants to focus in on the dingy window.
*I'm hoping we'll be able to go see The Festival of the Lion King before lunch.
* We're hoping to actually eat lunch in the park this time. Our only attempt was back in 2007 we tried Flame Tree BBQ. We waited in a very long line and the food wasn't all that great. This time, we want to eat at Restaurantosaurus. The shrimp po boy sounds so good.
*We'll hang out in Dinoland
copy10.jpg

try out The Boneyard play some of the carnival games and take a ride on
copy9.jpg
Triceratop Spin. DH and I have never rode so it will be a first for all of us.:grouphug:
*If time allows, maybe we'll head over to Rafiki's Planet watch. We can get some more of the character photos and go visit the petting zoo.
*We'll head back to the room for a while, then head over to DHS for dinner.
*We're going to eat at 50's PTC. This has to be like Mickey's favorite restaurant in the World.
*I'd like to get a couple of rides in before the park closes: Muppetvision 3D and The Great Movie Ride? I'm kind of worried about the Alien scene, if that's going to scare P (heck, it scares me, I'm a big baby:lmao:).
*Maybe get some night photopass pictures before heading home for the night.

We'll be back at DHS the next day.

Up next, another DL update.

Make sure you take Baby P to Playhouse Disney. His favorite, Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse are both there. Then get his picture taken with Jake. Izzy had hers done last year and Jake was impressed that she was named "Izzy".

I definitely plan on doing that this time, probably at DCA also. I wanted to take him to see Jake in December, but he was asleep. This time, I'll do it whether he's asleep or not. I've seen some really cute pictures of the characters interacting with the sleeping kids.

I'm telling you, Izzy reminds me of Izzy, if you let her hair grow out, they would be twins.

Sounds like another awesome (and busy) day. I have never overhead anyone complain about unused fastpasses but have seen plenty of meltdowns. We were so lucky not to be a part of any on our last trip. Despite the fact that AK is my least favorite park, I still like to be there at least one full day. Some people can accomplish a lot more than we do in a short period of time, so I hope you do everything you want there. Your HS plans are all things we missed last trip. Not that 50’s is one of my favorites at all, but we may return there next trip.

I'm excited to read your plans since I am travelling for the first time with my little one. :)
