When to rent for next October

Can anyone give me any guidelines on when to start trying to rent points for next October? I really don't want to rent this early, although I know that reservations for then are available. I have bought DVC on ebay before, but have never rented points, so I'm new to the whole concept.

You can post what you want/need to rent, and someone can make the reservations for you 11 months out. That means, they could reserve 11 months from your *checkout* date.

Hi dfarner,

Welcome to the DIS boards and the DVC board. Since DVC members can make reservations at their home resorts 11 month from their check-out date, that would be the best time to make a rental agreement to assure you get the resort and accomodations you wish.

At 7 months, the resorts open to all DVC members, regardless of their "home resort", and while getting what you want is also possible during that time frame, the closer you get to your travel dates, the more limited your available selection will be. Remember that EPCOT F & W festival taks place in October, and is a very popular time for DVC reservations. As Candace said, post onthe rent/trade board with your dates, desired room size and resort. At this early date, I'm sure you'll get many responses to choose from.

You also might want to keep in mind that October has become an extremely popular month because of Halloween and I think the Food/Wine Festival begins sometime around the middle of the month.

Food & Wine now starts the BEGINNING of October. Actually this year started 9/30 I believe. Anyway, you may not want to rent points this early, but if you want October at BCV or BWV, you may have to. Other resorts should have more flexibility, although I wouldn't wait much past 6 months out for the other resorts if you want anything in particular.

I just wanted to let you know that when I rented myself a few years back, I knew exactly when I wanted to go (kids are off the same week every year) and also where I wanted to stay. So we got an owner at BW to rent us a standard 2 bedroom at the 11 month window. It was during the F&W festival so we knew it would book up. Good luck!

We rented points this year at BWV, we went specifically for the F & W Festival, and booked at 3 months. Although I wouldn't wait that long if I were you -first, it was very difficult locating someone who could book the week we wanted, and second we paid a premium(around $13/point). If Disney had released the full schedule earlier, we would have booked earlier.
