I'd think you'll be okay with that rob. Although to Denise's point it always helps to book sooner rather than later.
During times when the Fort is full/busy such as the week before and after Easter Sunday, the week before Christmas through New Years, and around Halloween or July 4th (especially if its near a weekend) it helps to get a ressie in at least a year in advance.
If you plan to be at the Fort in the first week or two of August, that is still part of the busier out-of-school time and you probably want to make the ressie six months out or so (which fits your Feb time frame). Then from the latter part of August toward Halloween the demand falls, rates drop, and it's a more relaxing time. You can go with even shorter notice then.
If you've been to the resorts, the same rules apply at the Fort. If booking a room only, one night's deposit is required. You can cancel/reschedule all the way until about a week before arrival. It's easier to book longer than you think and then drop unneeded days as arrival draws closer. Sometimes people have trouble picking up extra days if they want to add so I always suggest booking long now and trim later.
Are you planning to get a cabin or come with a trailer/rv? Or maybe tent?
going to use the class c rv we got this year! planning on mid to late Aug as that has been good for us as far as crowds. long drive from MD but worth it i hope. we always drive down, so it will be nice to be able to stop and relax anywhere
And I'll echo Ed's comments. BOOK NOW!! It only cost you 1 night to reserve. You don't have to pay up until the 2 month out point. I book as soon as I convince the DW to go. Sometimes that is Thanksgiving (for the following summer), sometimes it's April for June.
We do not make a visit during the summer, but due to our stay being part of a grand gathering and right after the new year, we book as soon as we agree on the next years plan for vacation.
well not sure now if we will make it this year, college payments etc. still, i am holding out hope! thanks to all for the great advice on this webpage, i will continue to vacation at disney via your posts!
