Can anyone out there, tell me which is the best time to go to disney regarding weather and crowds? Sept or Dec? :flower1:

I think it will depend what dates you have in mind for December. I would think that the closer to christmas you stay the busier it would get.
However isn't September Hurricane season?

We were thinking of going first 2 weeks in December? Have you been and if so what is it like? :flower1:

Not in December or September. We have been in February and are planning to return again next month. The mornings can be a bit cold until the sun is up and the nights draw in quite early, but adding the nice average warm weather of about 70 degrees plus the cost savings of going say in the summer make it ideal for us.

We have been during the first two weeks of dec twice. One time it was way too warm for a december (I'm not complaining we left home with 20" of snow on the ground) and the second time it was comfortable with frequent rain. Both times, the crowds were small and we were able to get on many rides and easy dinner reservations, even if we changed our minds at the last minute. Have fun.

Went 2 wdw in oct 2004 and stayed at the beach resort (lovely) When you say quiet in 1st 2weeks of december, what are the queue times like as many say it is very busy at this time but others say its not. Confused!

:cheer2:

Hello,

The crowd volumes are extremely low in December but unfortunately so can the temperatures be ;)

We went December just gone and I think we were unlucky but it was quite cold for half the time. This might suit you though depending on what you want to do.

Me again, sorry!

I missed your next post Candy - basically we hardly q'd for anything for more than 5 / 10 minutes until lunchtime, then there were some q's but again very minimal. I think the others are talking about late December which is the busiest time at WDW, with q's of over an hour (or more) for the headline attractions.

Hi
We went to orlando on Dec 02nd 2003
The weather waas warm and sunny but it did not seem very much like xmas. The crowds were small except for the magic kingdom which we visited on a saturday and was very busy. The other thing was the cheap upgrade for the car at dollar. We upgraded from the normal saloon to the chrysler vovager for about £60.00 for the 2 weeks. Hope this helps

If possible I would avoid Sept like the plague. At best you're going to get regular afternoon thunderstorms and much humidity.

In December (early) you do run the risk of hitting a relatively cold snap (temps in the low 60s) but it's unlikely to hit for long. More usual would be low 70s for most of the time. Even when it's colder, it's unusual to be rainy and cold. Dress wise you might be in need to a fleece (sweatshirt) jeans and if you REALLY feel the cold gloves, but I've found a thich(ish) T shirt and shorts are ok at that time of year most of the time.

As as already been said early Dec is pretty good for crowds (not too many people) although the park hours tend to be shorter. Crowds start picking up about Dec 17/18th and are madness for Xmas week itself. As badger says, they can get busy at weekends nearer to Xmas as well, so avoid the major parks. I think Florida schools should break up about Dec 16/17th.

IMHO the best times of year to go are late Oct/Early Nov or late April to May. But if you're limited on times I would say Early dec is your best choice of the two.
